Been waiting to book our early May trip on Southwest & darn it, the prices went up again. Started at 104 then went to 121 & now it's at 140! Come off it!!! Guess I'll just wait to see what happens. Didn't want to be scared into booking the first flight I saw but now.....Anyone with any good news for early May????

I know, I've been trying to follow SW prices and they keep changing.
They still are offering their specials but are very limited/restricted
days and locations. I sure hope this will straighten out by the time
fall comes. If not I will be checking out other Airlines, if I'm going to
pay that much, I want to go with an airline that will give me more for
my money other than what SW does.

I booked when they first came out at $104 because we wanted Sunday and returning on Friday which are not the best for bargains. I assume since you are in MA you are flying out of Providence. The prices might go down around late Feb to March for those dates. At least this is what I have been noticing from watching the fares these last few months. I will continue to watch the fares everyday and will get a credit if the prices go down that I will use for my Sept. trip. Good Luck!!

Sorry about the double post. This site is acting strange lately.

At what price, since not $104 would you have booked when it first came out? Just curious.

i didn't know you could do that. how cool? do tell of the process, i am guessing you have to monitor this and alert them to get such a credit? (not that they monitor it and automatically issue you one if the fair for your already booked flight goes down) what if the price falls once, you get your credit and then the price once again falls? can you get a credit on the same booking more than once?

and does this apply to any other airlines? i am not a savey air traveler.

any money saving tips like these help.

I think you guys should check to see what the other airlines are touting for airfares right now. The other major airlines are outrageous in the 200's and 300's for one way. Southwest is still the cheapest. Even Jetblue has been in the 300's for many one way flights.

104 is a bargain in todays market, I'm telling you!

We are going early May also. I booked Northwest for there for $94. Haven't bought the tickets for back yet as I don't see any good deals. Northwest is around $128, airtran is around $109, and Southwest hasn't come out with May 10 yet. I'm going to hold out another month or so and see how I can do.

Tomoorow is suppose to open for my dates. I will have to grab what I can.

Airtran is at $89 right now so if SW can get close to that I will book if not then I will try out Airtran

The thing is I'm flying out on a Monday (before July4th) and flying back on a Fri the week after.

All these airlines are gonna be in for a rude wake up call. I understand the gas prices are what's causing this increase, but it's getting to a point where people simply won't go.

I used to fly my family of 3 to Disney and back for less than $400 roundtrip. That was just 2 years ago. Now, not counting buying seats for my 1 year olds, roundtrip for 3 tickets is about $700 (if we're lucky.) Next year, if prices are the same, we're gonna vacation someplace local.

If you find a SW fare that is lower just go to the travel tools section and find "Change flight". I think that you enter your confirmation number and that allows you to change it for the lower fare. If you get a "ding fare" that is lower you must cancel and rebook. Each of these options will give you a credit that must be used within a year. A good option if you know that you will be traveling again within that time. Hope that helps.

We haven't paid more than $79 each way for I can't tell you how long. I understand things have changed, gas...There were some deals that came out for $49-$99 but unfortunately they were very restrictive. Guess I'll just keep looking.

The day the flights opened for the latest round I booked $89/each one way (pre-tax) Manchester (MHT) to Orlando (MCO) for the beginning of May. I've been watching, and the prices have gone up for most of the flight times. Our $89 flight is now up to $190 :scared1: !

So, now I'm waiting for the next round (maybe tomorrow) to book our flights home! If they come out under $100, I'm going to buy them. :thumbsup2

I can't complain about these prices... if we were flying from Canada, by the time all of the taxes were added on... the price would be 30%-50% more! :scared1:

Ours are $110 there for early May. It is a Sunday, so I expected as much.

They were $114 on release and have stayed at $110. I will probably book in the next couple of weeks and then wait for a sale or DING and take a credit. We have 2 more trips coming up, so I can always use it. :)
