I have 120$ in ticketless travel funds that expire in March. We aren't taking another trip until May 5. I tried to call Southwest and get it extended but the woman on the phone said that i would have to pay 50$ per passenger to get it extended, and that the 120$ was 2 adult fares worth so it would be 100$. I was really confused with what she was saying and told her as much and she said that in order for me to use the 120$ I would have to pay 100$. Is this always their policy? I thought I had read here somewhere that people had gotten their travel funds extended without any fees. Do you think i should call back and talk to someone else? Any thoughts or help would be appreciated! Thanks:)

Shouldn't you have already booked for May? To answer your question, unless something's changed I'm not aware of, they do not charge you a fee to extend from one year to eighteen months.

here's the way it worked for us... i called and asked that our TTFs be extended and they sent me some "vouchers"... after i paid for and completed my next flights (w/in 18mos of original date on the TTFs) i had to send back the vouchers along w/a copy of my ticketless travel itinerary... i then received a check in the mail for the value of my original TTFs...

I had some TTF that were due to expire last month, I called them and asked for a 6-month extension (you have to call the refund dept) and they sent me a voucher in the mail which supposedly I can apply to my next reservation.

I don't know what the $50 pp is unless that's a new policy that they just put into effect in the last few weeks, I called in mid-Jan and there was no such thing.

you may want to read those vouchers closely... in our case they were not something we could APPLY to a future reservation, but rather we had to pay, travel and then send them in to be reimbursed by swa for the amount of the voucher... big difference in that the consumer (me/you) have to go out of pocket until travel is completed...

JustineMarie,

Did you call the 800-435-9792 number, or did you use the customer service number (214-749-4223) I have gotten ticketless travel vouchers extended without charge after calling the 214 number.

Thank you for the advice. I'm going to try calling back tomorrow and see what they can do. I just called the regular swa number so maybe tomorrow I will try the refund department.
