Southwest Rapid Rewards question

I've searched SW website and other travel sites and think I know the answer to this, but wanted to verify my understanding.

I have 10 credits left from the old RR system. From SW's website, I understand I can't convert these to the new points system, but I can convert new points to the old credits in order to complete the 16 credits I need to earn a free flight. I'm planning to use my SW credit card from Chase in order to earn enough points to complete the 16 credits needed. My old credits retain their expiration dates and some of them expire between March 2012 and August 2012. There's a good chance my next SW leisure flight will be in September 2012. Am I correct that as long as I earn my 16th credit prior to March 2012 when my oldest credits expire I will earn my free flight award and from that point I have one year to use it? I don't have to complete my travel before March 2012, right?

TIA!
