Bought five tickets (my family of four and my mother) for December Trip on my CC. My mother may not be able to go.

What are my options?

Can I get a credit for future purchase for myself or just for her?

SW was great, a few weeks ago we found out my husband could not go and they transferred his $190 ticket credit to my mom so she could rebook his ticket :) very easy and if my mom was not using it, my husband would have the credit for a future trip, no cost, no hassle, gotta love SW, American never would have done that.

It's my understanding though that in the past couple weeks Southwest changed their policy such that the credit resulting from a cancellation (or rebooking for a lower fare) can only be used by the same passenger.

the new policy was posted on sw com website as occurring January ( end of ) 2011
