Hi, if you cancel a trip with Southwest you have up to a year from the purchase date to book another trip right? You don't have to rebook a trip when you cancel, that credit from the cancel just remains until you book again? I just want to make sure I understand this right. thanks

You got it right. The next flight must be completed WITHIN a year from the original purchase date.

Yes. And, as already stated, note that the flight must be completed by 1 year from the date the original flight was booked. And SWA just changed their policy so that only the name on the credit can use that credit.

I knew I could find the answer here - thank you! My parents have a flight booked for March but they are thinking of changing to November, realizing prices might be different, but it's good to know they can cancel and keep the credit.
