I am travellint to Disney April 2006. On Long Islanda, NY, the April Break begins on a Thursday, April 13, and that is the day I am leaving.

Now, I know on dates of high travel (like Presidents Week and Spring Break) Southwest sells out very quickly. But since I'm leaving on this Thursday could it be possible that more people are leaving on the weekend and I have a better shot of getting tickets.

I know the tix don't go on sale until around January, but I'm worried because I'm going with my friends and they don't want to get tix for $225
r/t right now because they think Southwest will be cheaper.

(We will be flying out of Islip)

Thanks in advance.

The maximum fare (fully refundable) is $370. I know several people who normally fly out of LGA book the $370 out of ISP because it was much lower than the available fares out of LGA during President's week.

You have a shot at discounted seats but SW is doing a better job restricting the number of discounted seats on flights that will otherwise sell out. I'm not sure how much lower than $225 you'll get. For example a fun fare of $109 will cost $235 R/T and I'm not convinced you'll get any of the very deeply discounted fares.

If $225 is available now, with an airline like Jet Blue, for a non-stop flight with flight times you like I'd be tempted to skip SW and book it now.

So, what are the chances of me getting those low fares, considering I'm leaving on a Thursday (when the vacation starts) and not on Saturday (when most people will leave.... I think)

How low are you looking for? $235 (109 internet fun fare) is certainly possible. I don't think I'd plan on a $120 R/T DING special.

Thanks for the information. If that's the lowest I'm going to get I think I might as well get the tix I can get now.

I DON'T HAVE A CRYSTAL BALL OR SECRET INFORMATION I just think, given the cost of jet fuel, it's very dangerous to assume you'll be able to get a $150 R/T fare, it might be available for the date you want but you have no way of knowing in advance. I always figure a $200 fare is reasonable, if I get exactly what I want, but hope to be able to steal a flight for under $150 R/T.

Also, when are you coming back? You may get a discounted flight going down, because of the Thursday, but have to pay non discounted for the return. Depending on your return date, I think the $225 looks pretty good, too.

I rturn on a wednesday the week later... and I know no one here is a crystal ball, just looking for suggestions.

We flew SW last April during our spring break. We flew down on a Thursday. I booked the flight almost the minute SW extended their dates...we paid $312 a person out of Hartford, CT, and the rate never came down...the flight was totally full on the way there, and on the way back (Sunday). The check in lines were unreal coming home!! I had never seen such lines...The price we paid, though was much, much lower than Song/Delta, unless you were smart enough to book it with them 330 days in advance, which I was not : (
