Southwest Priority Card... anyone know?

My husband upgraded his Southwest Premier card to a Southwest Priority card in July. His card anniversary, though, is in January (because he opened the Premier in January 2018). He won't pay the new higher annual fee until then, I believe.

The Priority card comes with four upgraded boardings per year, which you can purchase at the airport and then they're comped.

Questions:
1. Do you think he's eligible for those now?
2. When they say year, do they mean calendar year or anniversary year?

Thanks to anyone who might know! :)

I recently did the same. It's my understanding that I've got the upgrades to use starting now , as well as the $75 credit, and that my "new" anniversary will be when I upgraded to the new card, so that it will be a year from when I upgraded, about a month ago.

I believe it is immediate - my husband upgraded just a few months ago (anniversary is December, I believe?) and we were able to use the perks on our trip in August.

Sounds right to me. DH upgraded last October, and the $75 credit was available immediately. His annual fee was charged in April, and the travel credit did not reset then, so I am thinking it will in October. We have never used the upgraded boarding, was thinking about it in October, now I am wondering when exactly that would reset, I wouldn't want to accidentally use 2020's upgrades but I wouldn't mind using 2019's. Hmmm off to check his dates.

Thank you all!

It sounds like my husband’s new anniversary date is maybe July (when he upgraded). Now to find a way to remember that, since the bill for the annual fee is in January.

I just asked Chase this question. I didn’t upgrade, just signed up for it last year but was still confused on when they reset. I was hoping they would give me an actual date. They just said they reset on the statement following your anniversary date. So in my case I signed up late October and that statement goes to 14th of November. So I guess I reset November 15.

I upgraded in July (anniversary is in the spring) and I used the credit as soon as I got the card. It should be immediate.
