I booked our January flights as soon as they opened but have been checking sporadically to see if prices are moving. Our departing flight sold out WGA early but then reopened at a $50 higher price than we paid, so I assumed it wouldn't get any cheaper.

Well I just looked on the spur of the moment and our return flights have gone down $30/pp. Yay!

So that's it, right? EBCI carries over, and there's nothing else I need to do? I don't see our credit anywhere on my profile, but I assume it will be there next time I go to book something?

You have to call and request a
credit for the lower fare. You'll have to use that credit within a year if your original booking date.

you don't have to call, you have to go online & change your flight, selecting the same but lower fare as the new flight. As long as you do it as a change and not a cancel & rebook, your EBCI will carry forward.

You can call or do it online but if you call, be aware that you will lose online access to change that reservation going forward - you will have to call for all future changes.

We are visiting my son over Labor Day Weekend in NYC, and one was has been sitting at $117 like forever. I told him, we would be flying in at 7:30 p.m. since I didn't think he could get off work and pick us up at 3:00 p.m. He told me to change our flights, since he is right next to LaGuardia and can pick us up. I looked at the flights today and they jumped to $170-blah. Maybe it will drop down next Tuesday yet. Whoever said flights are cheaper 2 weeks out is wrong.

We have been watching prices on SW and ours dropped $114 each, my step son and girlfriend's dropped $75. It really pays to watch those fares.

DH and I leave in 9 days, but a few days earlier flights down dropped $60 for both of us and if were to go home a day later than we originally booked, flights dropped $100 for the both of us. It can really be a hit or a miss.
