So I know that on Southwest if you were change flight paid for with cash you would get a voucher to be used over the next year for any difference you get (if the new flight is cheaper).

How does it work if you've used points to purchase the flight? Are the points only good to be used in the next year or do they just go back into your banked points and are good as long as your account is in good standing?

TIA!

I was able to do that for both our departing and returning flights. Got quite a lot of points back!

Yeah that's awesome, I just hit the minimum spend on the southwest credit card so I have 40k points coming from that and I don't mind just buying at the higher price if I can get the points back because I'll eventually use them! (I usually use the cash difference too but the expiration date stresses me out! Lol)

If paying cash the voucher is good for a year from the original purchase date of the ticket. Good to know how they handle points.
