So within 60 minutes of SWA releasing their schedule, some flights were completely sold out. I'm trying to book travel from PVD for April vacation. The flights that are left are in the range of $300 pp/each way. C'mon now...tell me these flights will drop! Tell me Southwest is toying with me! It's day 1 for crying out loud. Someone, tell me not to panic! :3dglasses

Coming from New England, I would grab 300.00 in a second. Are you kidding, have you seen jetblue or Delta for that week? You will not do any better than that going out of BOS or Prov, and that fare will only go up, I promise. I am paying 293.00 RT Airtran from BOS and was very happy I grabbed it when I did (164.00 going down and 129.00 returning). So do not wait, it doesn't get any better.
PS so sorry, just reread your post and realized you typed 300.00 one way!! I thought that was RT. Now you just gotta decide how much you're willing to fork over, because every airline is identical for the same time, it's highway robbery for sure.

I just booked SW round trip from PVD for our April vacation. The price went up $30 a ticket from when I left work to when I got home. It also went from $144 to $225 for PVD to MCO while I was on the computer booking :scared1: Good thing I had multiple windows open and got the lower price.

Good luck! Hopefully the fares will go back down for you!

I hear you. That is terrible it is that much for one way! They have been fluctuating today, so maybe they will go back down. I have no clue.

I was checking prices and lowest ticket was $174 one way home at a later time than usual flight schedule for Sundays MCO to PIT. I was bummed, got the to flight in September for $84. So I am basically paying double for the flight home. But, then I went to check again and it went up to 192, I was so upset. I went in 2 seconds later and the 174 came up so I booked it. Not sure how I got it at 174 again, b/c when I was done I went back in and it is at 192 and staying there. That date is the most expensive date of the whole month of March. Wish I would have known that earlier. Oh well. I will be checking for a lower fare or better time for our schedule so I can rebook.

Good luck!

I fully expected the SW flights from STL to MCO to be a little high today for our May 1st trip down (they usually are the first time they get released) but I was very happy they released them with some of their lowest prices - 94.00 each way. Granted, we aren't going during Spring Break so that helps.

I grabbed $89 down and $177 back (boo!). None of the return flights were cheap so I had to grab what I could. I figure it will only go up.

I paid 1500 for 4 rt NS tickets...I checked PVD, but opted with ALB-MCO(I had a minivan reserved for a one ways in case it was cheaper). Albany was a few dollars more expensive but I get to save 3 hours...I am going to watch PVD because I am flying out the Wed before Easter and returning the Thurs after...no highest demand.

the key is to not book on those weekend days....my RT leaving the Tuesday to the following Tuesday is $161

I was just having this conversation with my husband. We booked for President's week the second fares opened in September. We got $145.00 round tripo non stops. The clincer is we are leaving on a Wednesday and coming home on a Monday. 12 nights total. Yes the kids will miss 3 days of school but I'd rather pay for more days at Disney than more money for air fare. Still spending it either way. What I sav in air goes towards room and food for extra nights at Disney. When your buying 6 tickets $150.00/ticket adds up fast. That $900.00 buys us 5 more nights.

I also believe this to be true. We fly in and out of BUF and this morning I got $62 each way for our April break. However, we are flying on a Tues and a Thursday. I checked the weekends and the cost was more than doubled.

It changed in a blink of an eye...I hope it goes back down for the end of March:badpc:

Did you check Manchester? I did this Southwest waiting/jumping on the fare game when they released Feb. vacation.

Providence and Boston were a lot higher and were gone in minutes. I was able to get 99 each way out of Manchester nonstop for Feb. vacation. Maybe they have lower prices for April vacation as well.

Good luck to you!!!

I've been waiting for the SW prices to come out so we could finally book our airfare, i had booked the train at $680 roundtrip for the 4 of us.

Well....by the time I got home from work, the rates were way too high. It was going to cost us around $1600 roundtrip. Comparing that to the train is a no-brainer to me. It will be a long trip, but, the kids are psyched!

I was so disappointed though, I wsa hoping to the SW prices would be reasonable and we coudl try them for once. Oh well!

Usually we fly Delta direct out of BDL to MCO. I tried all the surrounding airports...the cheapest I could do was $1100 out of Pittsburg which is about a 4-5 hour drive from here.

We are trying the train! But, I'll keep checking to see if the rates drop.

I'm actually going the week before spring break from Mon-Sat and the fares were still high. I decided to wait to see if the fares will go down and when I checked just now, the were even higher :lmao: . I'll keep waiting.

I did check AirTran out of Boston for my dates and they had them for $89 each way. I'll strongly consider that if prices on Southwest do not go down.

Godd Luck to you!

Are you saying the flight itself is completely sold out or are you saying they are sold out of the "cheap" fare buckets. SWA is in the business of making money and since they know that the week you are interested in is a high demand week they may not have released any tickets in the cheap fare buckets knowing that they can sell them for higher prices.

Have checked pricing for flying into and out of Tampa? We have done that on trips where we traveled school vacation weeks from RI. The cost savings was enough to cover the rental car cost. Not ideal, but not so bad either. It's a really easy drive from Tampa to Disney.

I guess the fact that we're going at the beginning of spring break season is why prices are so high out of Austin/San Antonio. The preceding week was ~$260pp. Our week is $350+! :scared1:

We may end up :car:

We booked our tickets for $372 RT out of Jackson,MS. Alot more than years past. :scared1: It will be Mississippi's Spring Break but it has always been our Spring Break when we have went. In 2008 we booked our tickets for less than $200 RT.
