Southwest Open Until October 31st

I got $275US per person round trip for August. :woohoo: (after fees and exchange rate, $350 Canadian... still cheaper than flying out of Toronto)

Flights were selling out as I was trying to buy them, so we're arriving a little later in the day that I had hoped... but I'm still pleased!

I booked our flights for late Aug this morning. $246 PP US is a bit high for the penny pincher in me :lmao: but it's a good price considering I got direct flights at super convenient times for us.

Picked up tickets for October. Never flew out of Buffalo before, nervous and excited! $271US per person round trip(includes Early Bird which travel agent sister in law recommended).

Looking forward to no airport customs!

I picked up our flights as soon as the site loaded this morning and have booked our family for $224/person return with all taxes and fees included. This is less than half the price of what I saw on Westjet yesterday. Both are direct flights, and great times as well. Can't wait until our trip now with everything booked.

I am so mad at myself. $224 per person return is what I was about to book this morning. Then I realized my husband had the credit card and he did not turn on his cell phone. By the time I got a hold of him 45 minutes later, prices were well over $300. :sad1: I didn't book.

we got our 5 seats for $280 round trip each including the Early Bird for mid August direct flights. -- This is our first time flying SW -- and SO was nervous about the boarding process -- we WOULD have been down to $205 round trip but she hesitated for a few hours -- man those seats book up fast!

Each of our flights to MCO and back has gone up about $70 since we booked this morning.

Crazy!

Ok, did EVERYONE take advantage of the free dining bounceback this year and decide to arrive on August 20th? The morning non-stop out of Buffalo is up to $168 one-way now and the mid-day one-way flight is SOLD OUT!!! I watched the prices rise and availability decrease within minutes of opening this morning.

Either it's a glitch in their system or WDW is going to be one busy place at the end of the summer!!!

So I'm curious now, at what time in the morning are the flights "released"? I knew they were coming out today(thank you Disboards!!) but had no idea they would go up in price so quickly. Thankfully the BF said to just book them this morning, it would have been an extra $100 if we waited till tonight(don't want to think what tomorrow would look like).

The 3:40pm flight on August 20 is not sold out. One fare class is sold out, but still airfares available for that particular flight.

I booked flights last year on the second day flights were released for the first day of the free dining bb and prices were still super cheap.

I think they released fewer wanna get away fares this year.

I checked flights right as they were released about 6:10/6:15am & started the booking process... by the time I finished entering our info the price had shot up from $123 each leg to $149&$168 same 2 flights. So I left for work - unbooked. By the time I got home, my must have return flight was unavailable... so I waited.

This morning flights for my dates have gone through the roof with 2 nonstop return flights sold out (was unavailable yesterday) the price is now dollar for dollar the same as it would be to fly nonstop out of Pearson, maybe higher with the exchange rates... It's Jetblue all over again. :(

Will continue to watch the fares & hope that this is just a blip in the system.
I've watched SW for months now in anticipation of booking for August & have seen some wild fluctuations, so far prices have always leveled.

Fingers crossed.

What happened to you also happened to me. My fingers are crossed with you. :goodvibes

How do we know when SW opens new ticketing dates? I am going in Feb. I thought best prices we 47 days out??

With SW the prices are cheapest right at the time of release. On Monday when Aug/Oct was released at 6:10am eastern.. one way was $123 BUF/MCO -- by 20 mins later it was anywhere from $149 to $168... Today it's $234.. one way.

It will come down again, once they find that the 2 pricier options are not selling. They will offer unsold Anytime & Business Select seats at Wanna Get Away prices in order to fill the planes.

On May 19/14 SW will release Nov to ?? -- then will post the next release date on their Travel Tools page.

Ive been looking at late August and the prices have keep going up> and they have already sold out alot of the Wanna get away seats. ITs crazy now i am rethinking if i will even be going away as i cannot finalize dates for another month. :confused3

I agree, I could only finalize the fact that we can go yesterday and the fares now are quite high; so I redeemed my Aeroplan miles instead and fly out of Pearson; cost me $500 in taxes and 126000 miles for 4; but what can you do! At least we get into Orlando nice and early and leave late on the return to maximize the time we have in Disney. For you, hopefully the fares will still drop a little later on!
