Southwest Online Check-in Question

I have flown SW many times for business travel and always wind up with a "C" boarding pass. Mainly, it doesn't matter to me where I sit on business, so I don't check in early.

However, for some strange reason, the family wants to sit together on our trip to Orlando (I would love to see the faces of those who might get to sit with our 3 year old if we don't!)

Can I check in all three of us online 24 hours prior to the flight? My understanding is that we should be able to pre-board with a 3-year old and that 1 of us should be able to sit with him regardless. I am a traveling veteran, though, and have seen some outrageous stuff happen with people on planes. At least for the flight down, I would like to check us all in 24 hours prior.

Thanks for your help!

Yes, you can check your entire party in 24 hours in advance. You can do it on a PC and print out your boarding card then or do it from some other Web enabled device, then get your boarding card at the airport. The printed boarding card isn't the secret, the actual check-in is.

I agree that it's wise to check-in regardless. You should be able to preboard (and some agents will allow your entire family to preboard, not just one parent) If there are tons of families with young children who want to preboard, however, I have heard of some agents suspending that process and just having everybody go through the usual queue process.

Also on your return trip you can check-in at the resort you are staying Concr or frontdesk.

We check-in using my cell phone then just reprint boarding passes at the airport. It's very easy to do and we have always gottin As.

Also unless they have a bunch of preboarders they should let you all board together. But I agree it's best to have the A's just to be sure.

Thanks for the helpful responses! Unfortunately, it appears as though we (at least one of us) will have to sit with the little man after all. :lmao:

Can I ask how you check in using your cell phone and then print boarding passes at the airport? It sounds very cool and I would like to use it for other SW trips. Thanks!

Use mobile.southwest.com on your cell phone. We've done this our last few trips from the parks to check ourselves in. You need your confirmation # and passenger names - same as when you check in online with a PC. Here's info from Southwest: http://www.southwest.com/travel_center/wireless_access_faq.html.
