I have just about had it with SW, I just called they said mabey 2-3 weeks before they up there time frame. This is the one thing I do not like about SW, keep you guessing.. I am looking for a flight from KCI to Orlando last week of May any help????? LIKE THE GUY SAID ON AIRLINE SHOW, SOUTHWEST KISS MY as%.......

Yes, it's hard to be patient with SW, but for the terrific fares they offer, and the lack of constant changes, this is the price we pay. I fly either SW or Jetblue and it's hard getting used to not being able to book way in advance. But, rest assured, those dates will open soon.

Southwest waited too long this time. I always wait for them, but not this time. I'm leaving in mid May and there's no fares up yet. That's just stupid.

Hated to spend the extra money but if I wait any longer, the fares for other airlines will sky rocket.

The word on "flyertalk" is that Feb. 8th is the date for SWA's next travel window.:thumbsup2
Of course, that forum feeds on rumor, too :teeth: .

Yes, "flyertalk" says Feb 8th, based on SWA's own blog. Sounds pretty reliable. SWA said on their blog that they normally have the dates released by now and that they are going to try never to be this delayed again. There was more to the blog but that's the best summary I can come up with on one cup of caffine this morning! :surfweb:

If you can, I would give them 2 more days. I figure that I've waited this long, I can wait a little longer.

Yeah, I agree! The cheapest airfare we can get right now is $209 per person vs. $99 per person r.t. on SWA. Worth waiting til Thursday.

Personally, I don't see what the big deal is about waiting for SW to release new dates/fares. You know they are going to ~ You pretty much know about how much the fares will be based upon current ones ~ You know that if you book within a few days of the release there will be plenty of flights to choose from so you aren't going to 'miss out'. So why the problem about waiting??

For me, it's a question of making 1st day plans and last day plans. I can't do that if I don't know what time I'm arriving and leaving at.

As for fares, you don't get the best fares unless you book right away. It's happened to me before where I tried geting the cheap fares the day they were released and they were sold out already. Granted, I could get a pricier fare, but what's the point? If Southwest weren't so much cheaper, I'd probably never fly them. Nothing personal against them or people that like them, but they offer nothing more than any other airline - Only less.

They lost out on me today as well. I decided to go ahead and grab a good fare with Continental (197 R/T + taxes/fees)...now I don't have to worry about missing out on that fare while waiting for SW to release the rest of May. And, the flight times are perfect and we have seats assigned already.

SW waited way too long this time.

I think if you're flying a very busy week, like for us would be Feb or April school vacation then you need to book as soon as possible. In the case of a summer fare I've found that for me SW doesn't release the cheapest fare first. Last April I paid $122 each way for August travel the day the dates were released. I ended up getting the fare down to $44 each way in June. I'm going to be more careful this time around for my summer vacation so I don't have a $566 credit to try and get rid of, which unfortunately I'm going to end up eating $330 of it.

Yes, I as well heard the RUMOR that the release dates for air fares with SWA would be Thursday, Feb 8th...........but sheesh already!!!!!!!!!:headache:

Nothing personal, but I don't think SW really minds that you booked on another airline ~ Sure they'd like to have you, but there's always another one to take your place. They don't ever seem to lack for passengers, especially on their flights to/from MCO.

This really isn't true (for any airline) ~ Air fares change constantly, fluctuating up and down at any given time. And at least with SWA, if your fare goes down you can get that credit without the 'change fee' that every other airline imposes.

Hey, I'm happier now...I love flying Continental, I have a FF account with them (rackin' em up!), EWR is easier to get to, the flight times are perfect, and my seat is assigned already. And no stalking southwest.com for the tickets, and then 24 hours before to get one of those coveted passes to board first. :thumbsup2 SWA surely will find a replacement, no doubt about it.

Okay, we've 'established' that those in the know, speculate thursday (2/8) for SW's new release dates:thumbsup2

Anyone care to speculate as to WHEN?

AM?

PM?

Of course, I'll be on the road that day:rolleyes1 ; would like to schedule my day when I might have a chance to book the low fare ASAP.

Which tends to fly out the door in PIT.

Yeah, every time I remember it's been about 11am EST. Now let's just hope their servers can handle the influx of customers logging on to their site on Thursday!!
