I had already booked a flight down for 10/13 at $79 per. I was waiting on a DING for return airfare, and my planned return date was 10/22. A DING came through today for $5 cheaper on flight down. The flights back for 10/22 were only 'DINGing' for $94, but the DINGs for 10/24 were $74 per person. So naturally, I had to stay the extra two days to save $20 per ticket.


Darn you, SW, for making me stay two more days in paradise!

Shhhhhhh.... Don't worry about that. If anyone asks, here's my math...

Moving flight to extend trip 2 more days - Saved $20/ person ($80)
Two nights extra at WH condo - $75/nt - $150
Two additional days to tickets (already have 8 day PH) - $6 / person - $24
Two more days car rental - ??? ~ $100
Two more days food - $100
Two more days at The World - Priceless.

I just did the same thing!! A DING came out for SDF-MCO for our dates. The flight down was wide open--no problem. The flight home was originally planned for a Saturday $128 OW (which was not included in the DING--Mon.-Thurs. only) So I checked the Friday prior. Cheapest flight was $128 OW. The Sunday after, cheapest was $142 OW NS. Thursday before, yep $74. Monday after, yep $74. Asked DH "Would you rather come home on Thursday before the original Sat. or Monday after the orig. Sat.?" "Stay 2 more days or come home 2 days early?" His reply, "Oh we're staying till Monday." I LOVE HIM!

Of course, I can't call DVC today to see if we can add on the extra 2 nights but keeping our fingers crossed that we'll get something somewhere. So technically, we won't be out 2 extra hotel nights since we have the points. Our rental car rate only went up about $60 for the 2 extra days. We will be spending more on food but we would have to eat at home too (of course not nearly as expensive!). But still...flights were originally going to be $1200+ for 4. I got them for $669+. That's a BIG savings!!

I will still be checking SW daily to see if I'll be able to snag a DING for that original Sat. but if not that's okay too!

Just added two days to our trip thanks to Ding!! I love the calculations above. Nope, we mustn't worry about the extra nights at the resort, we are at the world!! Plus, I figured I was getting my tickets through Undercover Tourist and they were for 6 days, it's a shame to let extra days go to waste!!

Funny, I just did the same thing! I couldn't pass up that $64.00 ding so we added an extra night to our trip.

Good luck to you! I called and extended our stay as soon as I booked the air. They had the room AND rate available! Guess that means it was meant to be! Pixie dust away!

If you can add an extra day (or in my case two) of fun - even if you have to switch hotels / rooms - it's worth it! Glad to hear it worked out for so many of you, though. It makes the conspiracy theorist in me wonder... Do you think there's a consortium of hotel owners who have stock in airlines that make us stay in Orlando longer through giving those rates?! Oh well - who cares!

PS... Today puts me 100 days from Disney. Tomorrow we're in the two digits!
