Hi girls :) I haven't posted in awhile...but my wedding is coming near and I have some last min questions arising.

One would be has anyone flown southwest with their wedding dress? Does it have to go beneath or can you carry it on?

Has anyone used Carolyn Allen's? I thought about shipping it down there beforehand....but then what do I do to get it home?

Thanksprincess:

I carried mine on without any issue. It was considerably bigger than the standard carryon size but everyone was very kind. I just had the rest of our party put there carryons overhead and laid my dress across the top. We also carried on everything I needed for the wedding day....shoes, jewellery, unity candles, ring bearer cushion etc. Things that I absolutely didn't want to get lost!!

I used Carolyn Allens for tux rental and dress steaming they were great! They would have cleaned it and shipped it home for a great price but I am in Canada and they didn't ship cross border.

I didn't fly southwest, I flew USAir, but didn't have any problems carrying my dress on with me and it was quite large. I had contacted them by email in advance to check the size of the overhead bin just in case. I asked if I could preboard and they were fine with that as well. Everyone was very excited that we were getting married so they were really nice. We had DH tux with us as well so we took up a whole overhead bin for my dress and they hung his tux in the closet up front.

As for Carolyn Allens, we used them to steam my dress and his tux. They were so nice and accomodating! I had arranged in advance for the "clean and store" for my dress afterwards. The day after our wedding, I brought my dress down to the front desk of our hotel, they picked it up, cleaned it, put it into a large keepsake box with a viewing window and shipped it to me and I got it about 4 weeks later. Such a relief to not have to bring it back home with us on the plane, especially since we were doing the Disney cruise!

Congratulations to you!!!

we're flying southwest as well and i called them and they advised me to ship it there...the overheads are smaller on sw flights...i'm shipping my dress to carolyn allen's insured...
