Got my 1st ding at 10:00am CST; Got my 2nd at 12:45pm CST. I did end up booking the 2nd go around. But, I should say the ding was close to and in one case higher than yesterday's ding.
Our flights out mci-lax are on 8/2...booked back in Feb & I think since its a sat, there have never been any dings for this day or deals other than the original $109pp I got back then. Today's deals don't cover 8/2 (per the blog 8/11-10/30) & all dings I've seen essentially skipped over my flight out date.
As for my return flight, we could have booked return lax-mci on 8/10 after
DCL cruise, but prices skyrocketed before I booked. Originally it too was $109, but the ns flight I wanted is now $255...never any dings for this sunday return. So, around Mother's Day, there was a click & save special for a tues flight 8/12. It was for $94pp. Although, it was not an ideal flight (2 stops, but no changing planes & with a 4:00 departure put us home around 11:00pm) it was better than the $255 sun flight and would allow us a few days in
Disneyland before coming home. Ok, booked that.
Well, yesterday was the first time I saw any dings better than the mother's day special. There was a $90 fare on a ns flight (yeah! no more 2 stops), flight didn't leave until 7pm, but put us home at 12:20am. Ok, yuck on the return time, but what's the diff between 11 & 12:30 anyways? All the good flights have never been dinged and are too expensive. Well, yesterday's $90 ding was good for lots of dates July on (no weekend dates though), but meant I could change up and do a Monday return instead of Tuesday. After talking w/my dh, I did end up switching us up to a Monday return (he worried about taking a full 10 day vacation).
Well, last night got to figuring and realizing that we'd only spend a little bit more that Tuesday with a 3rd day pass/hotel cost, & Tuesdays are magic mornings at Disneyland and we'd only have 1/2 days at Disneyland Sunday after cruise and Monday if we had to fliy home Monday, so immediately regretted our decision to change from Tues to Monday.
Spent this am crossing fingers for a ding again on Tues. Yep, the 2nd ding was it! Funny thing is that Monday 8/11 ding I got yesterday for $90 was $97 today! But, Tuesday's 8/12 was $90 so essentially a complete transfer! Yeah! Now, we get to do Sun/Mon/Tues at Disneyland after our cruise & get to take advantage of Magic Morning! I'm so glad that ding came back! Whew!
Now I've got $44 in credits I've gotta figure out if I can use before 5/6/09!
