Southwest credit

I have a credit with SWA from a change in flights last time we travelled. I know I have a year to use it but my question is this, does the trave have to be completed before the year is up or does the credit have to be used to buy tix before the year is up? For instance, it is good until June, so could it be used before that to buy tix for August?

Either way, I know I will not be using it. I'm in school now and that is taking all of our $$$! I just want to know because I think it can be sold or transferred. Is that right? I'm not looking to make money on it, but I don't want to just lose it either. If only we could use if for another trip to the World!

Your travel has to be completed within one year from the date of the original reservation. IE: You make your reservation on June 1st, you change your reservation on Aug. 1st. You must rebook and complete your trip by June 1st the following year.

from experience you can use it for anyone but ......

you have to supply the name, locator ( i think the name that was on the credit card it was originally "booked" under..... )


we used the credit from inlaws to book a flight once it was easy but the logistics of selling/transfering might get involved ....unless of course it is close friends and family you are dealing with as in our case

gail is correct in saying it has to be used before the "expiry" date of the original purchase and all travel must be completed before that "particular" date

To transfer or sell it. To be safe, I would do the reservation for the person buying it. You do have to supply the name of the person on the credit card that made the original reservation.
That and the reservation number is all you need to make the reservation. No credit card information is given at all.
It is really pretty safe, but, I am always hesitant about giving out too much information to anyone.
