Does Southwest Airlines issue credits if the airfare rate drops after you purchase your tickets?
We purchased 20 tickets for a WDW Family Reunion earlier this year and now the rates have dropped.....How depressing!:(

Did you buy them thru group sales?

If not, I know SW will issue you a credit. If you bought them over the phone just give them a call. If you did it thru the internet you need to cancel your current reservation in their travel center and book a new one. (I would do this one at a time in case there are NOT 20 cheap seats availalbe.)

If you bought thru group sales, I would assume you need to talk to the them and I don't know what their rules are.

We have gotten credits from SW several times. Does not matter if made over the internet or via phone, just call the 800 # and give the operator the Confirmation # and they will take care of it. Then you can apply the credit to your next flight within a year. If you cancel via the internet first and the flight is full, you stand the chance of losing the space. Someone may book it before you can rebook.

I'm one who recently cancelled and rebooked at a lower price. On my confirmation I printed out, it stated that my credit is good until 4-2-04 which is one year from the date that I purchased the first set of tickets. My question is...do we have to fly by 4-2-04 or just purchase new tickets with my credit by then? It's probably a dumb question but I've never done this before. Thanks!

When I received a credit from SWA I was told that I need to complete the new trip, one year or earlier, after the purchase date. I flew well before the one year time, so don't know if I was told right or not.

SWA won't charge you a rebooking fee. You get the full credit toward your next ticket.

You need to complete your travel in the year time frame. BUT...we managed to get by that by booking online. Seems their computer does not bounce it back if you make the reservation before the expiration of that credit. However, if you try this by phone they will catch it.

I just recently called SW about lower rates. I had 5 tickets and it is now $30 a ticket cheaper. I requested that the $150 be refunded to my credit card. I booked on the internet but they changed my tickets for me over the phone and said after the travel was completed, they would issue a credit to the credit card I used to purchase the tickets. With customer service like that, why would you ever fly another airline??
