I'll be flying southwest with DW & DD (phl to mco) and am worried about not be able to sit together. I Know i can check in online 24 hrs. before the flight but will that guarantee me an "A" boarding pass?
Anyone have any experience with this
First time flying Southwest

I fly SW PHL to MCO all the time, and have always been able to sit with DH. Check in online 24 hours a head of time, and you'll get the A pass.

How old is DD? If she's under 5, you can pre-board anyway. If not, just get in line with the A group. When you get to the gate ask if the flight is full. Most of the time my fllights have been only 1/2 full, and we sit down and relax, and then line up with the A's at the last minute. If the flight is full, just watch the crowd, and when it looks like the A line is starting to form, just hop in line!

You'll be fine! It's sounds a lot more stressful than it actually is!!

I love SW!!!

It won't necessarily guarantee you an 'A' boarding pass, but I've never failed to get an 'A' checking in at the 24-hour mark. Regardless, even with a 'B' pass you shouldn't have any trouble getting three seats together; although you might have to go to the back of the plane. If you don't get an 'A,' just make sure you get to the airport early enough to get a spot at or near the front of the 'B' line.

Also, you don't mention how old DD is, but if she is four or under (I think that's right) you should be able to pre-board before the 'A" boarding pass holders.

I'm afraid not. SW's policy allows children *under* 5 to pre-board.

Go to southwest.com > Help > Southwest Policies > Boarding/Checkin for details.

Has anyone ever had a case on SW where a young child had to sit alone? Everyone is usually cooperative so that does not happen.

last year when i flew sw there was a family who boarded last and the flight attendant was asking people to move around so the child wouldnt have to sit by himself

The boarding passes are as follows: The first 1/3 of the capacity of the flight who check in get "A" passes, the next 1/3 get "B", etc.

make sure you check in 24 hours in advance, especially if your flight originated elsewhere and may already have passengers on board when you get on.

remember you can go to guest services at any park 24 hours before your return home flight and ask them to check you in on-line. they'll even print your boarding passes for you.
