I just checked in right at the 24 hour point for tomorrow's 6AM flight to Orlando, connecting through Baltimore. There are 3 of us and it's all on points, so I had to check us in individually. Our boarding assignments for the first leg (to BWI) are A51, A54, and B7. That's OK… after all, I chose not to pay fro EBCI, but am a little surprised to be so far "down" in line. However, what really surprised me are the assignments for the BWI-MCO leg. We got B8, B11, and B12! People flying direct, BWI-MCO, won't be able to check-in for more than 2 hours after my window opened! I usually get much better boarding assignments on the second leg of a flight, but not this time! Wanna Get Away fares have been sold out for several weeks on these flights, so I knew they'd be pretty full. Looks like lots of folks are connecting through BWI and used EBCI.

Anyhow, that's our check-in/boarding experience. I am NOT going to worry one little speck about our boarding assignments anymore! Tonight we sleep at the airport hotel and tomorrow at 5:30am we board a flight to FLORIDA!!!

How would one know if the flight you book is a connecting flight?. I'm flying from bwi to mco and just curious to know if the flight I get on will arrive pre filled. This is only the second time I've flown on SW. Glad I bought early birds. I never even thought about the fact that my non stop flight would be someone's connecting flight letting them checkin earlier than the folks on the second leg.

Those aren't bad slots.....your numbers mean only 36 people checked in prior to you.
And the second leg? That could just mean that those ahead of you bought EBCI...which means they got checked in 12 hrs prior to your checkin time. Not surprising. BWI is a huge hub for SW!!!

Have seen recent reports on other forums of EBCI getting people B boarding positions. And not high B either.

Actually, those boarding assignments pretty far "down" for our home airport. Frequently we are in the high teens or mid-20s, right behind the A1-A16 boarders. We always have to connect through BWI, but this is the first time that we haven't had better boarding spots on the connection than on the originating flight. I am not worried about our spots, just surprised. I think many families were worried about not getting seated together and did the EBCI, either from BWI directly or as a connector. I know if I lived near a Southwest hub, I'd always choose EBCI!

I am not worried about our seats. I know the 3 of us will be seated together, and I don't really care where we are on the plane. On the way home, DD and I have EBCI because we'll be in MK at check-in time. I will check DH in sometime that morning, but am not worried. If DD has a window and I have an aisle, chances are very, very good that nobody will sit between us until DH squeezes in!

It's hard to predict these days but it does seem to be getting busier at BWI. Flying BWI to MCO in September we got around B10 without EBCI and about 2 hours late on the window so pretty good considering. With EBCI on a BWI to LAX flight in August it was about B5, I'd never gotten so low with early bird.

My last 2 or 3 trips I have got a B boarding pass at exactly 24 hours without EBCI, from around B3 to B27 (PIT-MCO). I did a one stop through BWI once, 46 of us stayed on.

We are flying down Sunday morning from BWI so checking in Saturday morning. I bought EB for DH so Mr Long Legs has a shot of getting an aisle seat for himself. Just put me in checked luggage if it means going on vacation!

For our 9:45 flight out of BWI on Sunday, we got A31 on EB and B27 checking in exactly 24 hours ahead. Must be lots of people transferring flights. See you in FLA!
