I just printed out my Southwest boarding passes for our flight tomorrow and I got A17 - A20 (there's four of us). Is that good? Just looking for a little reassurance. Thanks! Can't wait to get there!

Bravo, that's just about the best you can get without paying extra for A 1-15 :)

You will be among the first on the aircraft.

Any A boarding pass is good and will give you a wide range of seat choices. Even A60.

And if you *must* be first to stomp onto the plane (lots of people seem to feel this way), you will be very close with those numbers.

Well, thanks for the snippy remark. I don't feel the need to "stomp" but I'll keep you in mind if I do.

You will be some of the first to board.

Great Job we always make a game out of getting good numbers even with the older system when they didn't matter.

17-20 is very good with the new system as others have said.

It wasn't meant to be snippy or directed at you...but yes there are people who are crazed about getting onto the plane first. One used to see them camping out in the A line two hours ahead of time :)

Yes you did. Most of the passes from 1-15 are reserved for the new "business" fares that SW just started offering. I had A16 & A20 on my flights to California in November and was the 2nd or 3rd person to board on the first flight and like 6th on the 2nd as there were no boarding business passes ahead of me.

There may be a reason why they want to be on the plane first, such as a medical condition that does not require them to get a blue envelope, preferences in sitting in the front or back or a preference to an aisle or window seat or any other reason. I would not consider these people "crazed" and kinda find that remark to be rude.

Excellent! I checked in for our return flights at 24 hours minus 3 minutes and our boards passes were A32 through A35. Not bad, but not as good as your! :)

You know what...if felt annoyed by the people who used to park their bags at the front of the A line to hold their spot while they were in McDonalds at MHT, so that they could be #1 and #2 to get onto an empty 130-seat plane (yes, "crazed), I can do that. Sorry if you find it rude but there it is. ;)

I just booked SW and we have not flown them in a while (had been getting better fares on Air Tran).

So please help!

I will be able to print my Boarding Pass 24 hours before the flight, correct?

Also, is it pretty much the same - back in the day you got either A, B or C.

Thank you!

Yes on the 24hour check-in

It has totally changed in the A,B,And C learn here

http://www.southwest.com/help/boardingschool/

I think it's better this way and even more important to check-in early

I just did ours and got A18 and A19, so that means we should be the 3rd and 4th people on the plan after the A1-A15 business class people get on.

I was SOOOO anal about coordinating my watch to the 'you're too early' error when you try to check-in prior to your 24 hour window.... I knew my clock was 33 seconds ahead of SWA's. So I knew that I had to click my submit button right at 5:14:27. I gave it an extra 'tick' and clicked at 5:14:28, just to be sure, and it cost me TWO WHOLE SPOTS IN LINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Yeah, I know, I'm way dorky. But it'll be nice not to have to do the cattle call thing and wait in line forever. As their commercial says - it will be nice to actually use THE SEATS in the SW area!

No worries now... I'm right around 8 hours from departing for The World!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did the same thing last night. At what I thought was 9:10 pm I licked on check in and got the your can't check in prior to 24 hours ahead of time. So after waiting for a couple of minutes I did the same thing again, but this time it went through amd we got 18A and 19A. It will be nice knowing that my wife and I will beable to sit together and that we won't have to stand in line to long to get on especially with my wife being pregnant.

thanks for this thread. I am from australia and had no idea that SW had a different boarding/ticketing system.I am guessing they are ok to fly with? Is the business class any good other than getting the first bunch of seats. We fly Orlando to Vegas and wondering if the 5 or 6 hours might be better spent in business class or is it all the same in terms of seating and comfort?

Just did mine -- A17-19 :thumbsup2 Now I'm going back to sleep because only crazy people are up at this awful hour.:scared1: I am so not a morning person...

marvel it really does not matter if you are paying business class versus wanna get away fares...unless you really have to have "exit" row seating

we have not found many "Business Select" on the flights we have taken since SW has changed the procedure, thus the first 15 "spots" are usually vacant ( that is unless the gate agent is not paying attention ....and some old guard SW flyers think when he says A 1 - 60 line up, that the number position on their boarding pass does not mean anything and they just line up "haphazardly" )in truth, you are suppost to line up according to your boarding pass position next to the pole which has your number range in it...

eg A 19, you are suppost toline up at the A 16 - 20 pole location

some gate agents seem to do a better job than others

except for the exit row where the leg room is a bit more extensive, all the seats on SW jets are comfy with plenty of leg room for me ( 5'11")

my take is that the extra cost of Business Select is not worth it ...especially flying to leisure vacation places such as Orlando and Las Vegas
