Southwest Birthday Celebration starting??

I am also wondering if what they have on their website now is the "big" Birthday Sale? Typically, is it only form certain airports? There has been no deal from PDX to MCO for the several months I have been watching it!:rolleyes1

I live well over an hour away from the airport, so a towncar to my home would be a little more expensive than I'd like.:rotfl:

I agree American has gotten totally out of hand since Air Tran left last Nov. I flew Spirit this past May and got a great deal ($148.00 before carry on fees). I did carry on only. I also paid the $100.00 r/t to upgrade to the Big Front seats. Even with the bag fees and the seat upgrade Spirit was still alot cheaper than American or Southwest, who were both well over $400.00. I'm flying Spirit again in Sept and got another good deal of $148.00 r/t again. Both Spirit flights were nonstop. I like getting to Orlando in 2 1/2 hours.:rotfl: I'm still looking for airfare for our Oct/Nov trip, but haven't found anything I'm willing to pay yet. I was sure hoping Southwest would go down, even though I hate that they can't fly nonstop to MCO.
I'm a little uneasy about Spirit. We do want to check a bag plus bring on carry ons and I stopped after I read about those fees. I'm not clear on what else you have to pay fees for.

I just wish that SW wasn't so darn expensive! But if you really want a laugh check out US Airways from Dallas. That's crazy. All of this makes me miss Continental.

I flew Spirit this past May and after all the bad reviews I had read about them, was pleasantly surprised. Even will all the bag fees, the final price was still alot cheaper than anyone else flying out of DFW or Dallas Love Field. I even paid to upgrade to the 'Big Front Seats' and the total price was still less than anyone else. Of course, I lucked out finding $148.00 r/t base fares. Paying for carryon and purchasing the Big Front Seat guaranteed me boarding zone 1. The front seats were bigger and did recline, whereas the seats further back were smaller and did not recline, but I did look at them when I got on and think I would have been fine in one of the smaller seats further back. The plane was very clean and comfortable and the flight crew were very nice. In fact, I think it was funny that we had the exact same flight crew coming home that we had a week earlier going down. They do not serve snacks or beverages, but I knew that going in, so just brought my own onboard, as did most people. I have no complaints and will be flying them again in early Sept. I bought r/t tickets for $148.00 for both the May and Sept trip way back last January. If I could find them that cheap again, I'd fly them again for our Oct/Nov trip (even with all the bag fees they'd still be cheaper than American or Southwest plus the flight is nonstop).

One thing that impressed me for the flight home: there were several parents who tried to jump on the young male gate agents, because they had not paid for their seats thinking they'd be accommodated just because they had children. The gate agent very calmly explained to them that Spirit had not seperated them from their kids, they made that choice when they chose not to pay for seats and they were not going to ask anyone to move for them. The gate agents were very young, but while polite, made it quite clear that they were not budging. I was really impressed with how they handled themselves.

Rebooked last week, refunded a lot of reward points! :cool1:
Yes, people do go on vacation Tuesday and Wednsday. We are leaving on a Wednsday. (we are nurses, only working 3 days a week is wonderful) :cool1:

We r going Wednsday thru Monday, 13 days!!! We ALWAYS ALWAYS fly mostly on Tuesday, Wednsday or Thursday. Coming home Mondays or Sunday's are usually $100 more person, I would rather pay for an extra night for hotel/car and stay the extra day instead of paying the airlinepirate:
