The SW website says that all lap-babies need to be age verified. I have a copy of b/c to take with me. My question is.....can I check-in the rest of the family on-line and then show her information at the airport? How does this work? Do I need to let the airline know ahead of time that I will have a lap-baby?

You can just checkin everyone (other than the baby) online in advance. Then, when checking the bags in at the SW counter, let them know you have a lap baby. They'll ask for the boarding pass back that you printed and the birth certificate and give you a new pass with the baby on it as well.

No need to tell them in advance.

That is what I did on the way to MCO and they attached the baby to me. However, on the way back I was not allowed to check in at the 24 hour mark since the lap baby was attached to me. I checked in my DH and DD, then had to show the birth certificate at the airport. I believe it also had to be a certified copy. Good luck.

You need to tell them when you make the reservation that you have a lap baby.
They will be on the reservation and flight log. they will need a boarding pass. There can only be so many lap babies on a flight.

If they aren't on your reservation you need to call and tell them.

I don't remember ever notifying them in advance about a lap baby. We flew RT at least 4 times on SW with DS as a lap baby. I checked us all in at 24 hours and then when we got to the airport we just went to the counter and had him added to my boarding pass. They always verified his birth certificate. I just had a copy...not certified or the real one. Never had a problem. He is 3 now, so this was just a few years ago.
