Got an email from SW Rapid Rewards this morning. You can now convert SW Rapid Rewards into Airtran A+ Rewards and vice versa!

I don't have enough posts yet to post the link, but if you Google "rewards farther" it's the first site that comes up.

WOW!! Thank you so much. I have a ton of southwest points and also gift cards from their credit card. I keep asking them to at least let me use the gift cards as they have three nonstop PIT to MCO on Airtran and only one 705am PIT to MCO on Southwest. This just made my day!!!! THANK YOU!:thumbsup2

just sign into your airtran or SWA account and all the info is there.

Can't say i'm happy re the merger as to less competion in my small market, but glad to see that they allow the transfer of SWA's old 'credits' to AT rapid rewards on a 1 to 1 basis.:thumbsup2

we do more reward activity thru AT, earning rewards via CC purchases typically using them for business class upgrades (no word yet on what's going to happen there but this is a good start in the right direction, business class will likely disappear but maybe their CC program will stay intact:wizard:and AT fans will have the best of both worlds...hey it could happen lol).

Still have a few thousand points in our SWA accounts that i'll likely transfer over to AT later this year. Some confusion in my mind as to what what expiry dates the points will retain once they're turned into AT credits, figure somebody will figure it out and post here.

keishashadow, from the FAQ on the website, looks like the A+ credits will expire after 1 year from the date you convert your SW points.

scootch, I too am excited. We have AT but not SW (yet) here in Memphis, although there are 4-5 SW cities within a few hours drive. I got the 50,000 pt credit card sign up bonus, and was going to drive to another city for a free SW flight. Now, I have the option to use the points on AT!

thank you:thumbsup2read it thru twice and still was confused duh lol. My CC rewards last 2 years

Since SW dont' expire, just don't transfer til you need them.

not for the current points, but my 'old' credits earned before the new point system had various expiry dates attached to them, think it was 2 years from date earned
