With all this craziness going on with SouthWest and Airtran. I have a friend that has booked through Southwest round trips to MCO. The flight going to MCO is Southwest the return flight coming back home is AirTran. Can they use the REsort airline Check in at their Disney Resort? Will they have any luggage fees?

I'll be interest to see the answer. We have the same situation. I'm sure it'll all work out, but...you're right... surprises at airports can be the worst kind! :headache:

There was a post similar to this just the other day. The best bet is to call the airline and ask. And, no, they won't have luggage fees assuming they only have two bags @50# or less each.

I read this on Allears newsletter today:

ALL EARS® HEARS

... from bfromcincy: Overall [Disney's Magical Express] is superb. I did run into a new glitch this time around. Purchased my round trip ticket via Southwest. The flight down was on their new acquisition, Airtran. No problems there, bags came to room pronto, etc. However, on the return leg, which was a Southwest flight, I could not check bags or even get boarding passes printed out. Instead I had to haul everything to MCO airport and wait in lines. I was told that if your ticket is with multiple airlines (even those that are now one, like Southwest/Airtran) they can not accommodate check-in and baggage at the hotel for your return trip.

Now our last trip (in 2011), we flew different airlines down and back (airtran to MCO and Jetblue home) and had no problems. I don't know if this is b/c of the merger or not. This time I bought tickets through SW, but the flight is operated by airtran on both legs of our flight. I'm wondering if I will even be able to do RAC. I'm going to have to call them and find out. Saw on another post, that since SW gives you a different flight number that the airtrain number that you should use southwest as your carrier not put airtran on the DME form. I put the SW #, but put airline as airtran. My dilema is that SW does not fly out of the airport we are flying from, only airtran. I'm afraid if I put in Airtran, I will be charged for bags which I shouldn't be. But if I put SW, my bags will not be returned to me. I'm not too worried about having them check me in since I can do that myself through their app.
