I have a question about booking an award flight.
We got the SW Visa last year and received a reward flight for DH.
Well, now here's the problem, it's going to expire on June 26 of this year and we want to travel in August.
Can we purchase a "flight" and then turn around and cancel it to have the travel funds to expire a year from that date so we can then use it for our August trip?
I hate to lose a free round trip flight!
I know you travel pro's can help me out.
Thank you!!!

simply put, No....i tried that last year...award expired in Sept. and needed it for Oct....sorry....:confused3

Pinnochio is right, unfortunately booking and cancelling won't change the expiration date on your award.

SW has been making some changes to their terms and conditions recently, so you'll want to verify this, but I'm pretty sure you can still pay $50 to extend the award for another year.

Thanks for the replies!
I knew you guys could help.
We are wanting to go to San Francisco and it's around $340 round trip so it'll be worth paying the $50 to extend it.
