Anyone know what Southwest is currently giving for snacks? I know on short flights of less than 2 hours its just the usual peanuts or crackers. On longer flights they gave snack boxes with a few good things in them. Anyone know what length of flight they give what?

Going to MCO we have 1 stop, in Houston, a bit over 2 hours each leg. Returning we're non-stop about 4 1/2 hours. Just wondering how much in the way of snacks I'll need to bring on the flight.

On any SW flight that I have ever been on all I have received is peanuts, but most recently it has been pretzels. But I have mostly flown only 2.5 hours one way - the longest was 3.5 hours but I only received pretzels on that flight also.

No more snack boxes. The FA serve the same type of items that were in the boxes but you get individual items without the box.

Last southwest flight I was on about 2 hours we got peanuts and a 100 calorie snack. DH got cheese it( or a cheese cracker). I saw they had some of the honey made cinnamon roll crackers and asked for them.
On the 3 other flights (all under and hour and half) we just got peanuts.

So they do give out more than just peanuts or pretzels on longer flights?

They just gave us two items instead of one. You can always ask for an extra. I would probably take something of my own. There isn't enough in the packages to ward off hunger anyway.

Bring a sandwich. The snacks are primarily 100 calorie bags of cookies, I don't remember which brand.

SWA offers Nabisco 100 cal snacks on longer flights. Generally, they have baskets full of about 3 -4 varieties and you can take as many as you want, within reason. If you want something more substantial, I recommend packing a sandwich or more substanticial snack.

Flying to MCO for us is a two hour flight, so we never get more than a snack, consisting of peanuts, pretzels, or 100 calorie packs. It's not a problem for me since the flight is so short and we usually eat prior to boarding anyway. Depending on the time of day (breakfast, lunch, or dinner), I'd pick up something to take onto the plane. Just be mindful of fellow passengers and don't get anything really smelly.
