Right now you can only book up till Mar 9th. Anyone out there that's SW savvy and can give me an educated guess when they might have the ding prices available for when I go?(Mar 12-19). Also, am I taking a gamble if I book only the Buf departure date if that's all that's available at first or should I hold off and wait till there's both dates available. Never flown Southwest and never flown out of Buffalo. Thanks in advance

I am also waiting for my flight back. I know that they said they are coming out within two weeks and people said that it usually comes out on a tuewsday wednesay for thursday. I have a feeling it will come out after nov 16 when the sale ends. Southwest is a great airline though very easy to fly on and we always fly with them. We booked out flight there already becaue if worst came to worst you can cancel and get a credit that is good fro one year.

I don't know when SW will open up more dates but when they do it will go beyond your dates (12-19). As far as getting a DING it is random. I always say that if you see a price that you are happy with you should book it. Flying out of Buffalo is very easy. The airport is small and straight foward not to mention the fact that the prices are at least half of what they are from YYZ. If at all possible we will never again fly from YYZ.

Well I figured SW would extend their dates soon so I'm gonna hold off for a week or two and see what they have to offer. If nothing good comes out then I may just take Spirit out of DTW for $227.00 pp. Being in London not much difference between driving to Buffalo, Detroit or Toronto. Flying out of T.O. though I agree is expensive. Well flight isn't expensive, it's the taxes they add on afterwards. Actually from what I've heard, Pearson is one of the most expensive in the world as far as the airlines are concerned. The landing fees they charge the airlines are out of whack with the other big airports

Keep an eye on Spirit... I saw a sale for $12 out of Detroit about a month ago. Unfortunately, it is too far for us to drive even for that kind of savings.

We just went through what you are going through. We are going Jan. 30 to Feb 10th. The prices came out at $145 each way. We impatiently waited. The system wide sale dropped prices about 4 weeks later to $109. I took a BIG breath, crossed my fingers and waited. The sale ended... back to $145. :scared1:
And then just when the CDN sale started on MYW packages (within a week) the prices dropped to $55 each way. Of course, we booked! Not worth waiting for a DING at that price, not when we already have ADR's booked! :rotfl2: The cheapest DINGs I'd seen while watching was about $39.
What I did do though, is keep an eye on the days I wanted and none of the prices of flights on the days we wanted went unavailable. Airtrans had sales before then for less than the $109, so I'm sure that helped. (They weren't direct though).
The only thing I'd be cautious (sp?) of is that March is busier and more apt to book than early Feb. Just keep watching the flights for your days.
Good luck!

Ditto that! :)

I have someone going down March 12th - 19th and I was able to get her a fantastic rate on Spirit with that sale. :thumbsup2

Seems that they like to release flights on Tuesdays. Check tomorrow.

When I booked SW for March Break last year, the best price I believe was the first one they came out with. After that the cheapest fares were booked up (within a week), and there never was a Ding for my dates.

Can you remember what the price was (when they first came out with the dates) if you don't mind me asking. I'm looking at a $200.00 pp maximum but of course I want to see if I can beat that as it means more money to spend there. I also don't want to wait too long and get burnt as it goes over the $300.00 mark. I like I challenge re: price deals but I'm getting antsy waiting to make a deal. I'm checking every day sometimes twice. I have SW ding up and running.

PS-why do they call it ding- mine makes no noise-just a sw tail with a envelope in fnt when I have deals waiting and just teh sw tail when no deals waiting

It was $391 for 4 passengers to get there. Would have been the same coming back, but we came back from Tampa as we were visiting my folks too. We ended up having to go thru Baltimore, but that is because we waited a few days after the flights were released and missed the good prices on the direct flight. Worked out well anyway, changing in Baltimore was a breeze, and we did not have plans to go to a park on our arrival day anyway.
HTH.

BTW, I think they call it Ding cause your computer goes "Ding" when a special pops up.

When I check SW they were not flying back to Buffalo on the 16th, 17th or 18th so you might not get a return flight on those dates. They're booking (I think) until May 10th now ...
