Hi! I was looking ahead at flights to Orlando for later in the summer. I have just over 11000 points and a few more pending.

I would need 4 tickets to Orlando and $83 each and 4 home at $100 each.

Is there a way to apply the points for 3 of the tickets and pay for the other 5 all in one transaction?

If not then how does that work having separate transactions and doing online check in to get seating assignments, hopefully near each other since there are children involved?

Thanks!
Christine

There are no seating assignments.

Booking in 2 separate transactions will be the same as booking in one. The only way you can guarantee to sit with each other is to pay for priority boarding at 12.5 per ticket each way.

If it were me I would book as many one ways as I could using points, then book the rest you need using cash-
If you just want to use the points you have, then pay for the rest separately it won't make any difference on day of travel- you can buy all through your same acct-and link them all under the same trip name.... *example* I am you- I have 11000 points- I need 4 tickets-
I use my points balance to cover 2 one way tix to FL and purchase-then I book the last 2 using money- easy! Then I book 4 one way flights HOME,using money. I link them all under one name on my travel page while booking-Easy!
I also purchase EBCI (if I want it) while purchasing my tickets. Easy!
(or actually I would probably purchase the points, then use them like cash for booking but that's another line of thought-based on cancelation policies on points vs. cash bookings)

Like above said, Southwest doesn't have seating arrangements ...they board by section (based on when you check in). I might disagree with them about the priority boarding though...in the case that you have young children (any child 6 and under will qualify you for family boarding), Southwest allows familes to board after "A" boarding (regardless of what boarding section your ticket days) so you should still be able to find seats together, though it might be near the back of the plane. Family boarding does not cost extra.
