southwest airlines buying points?

i know that if you transfer points to someone that it takes 3 days for the points to show up but what about if you buy points?

is it an immediate transaction or do you have to wait 3 days for the points to show up?

i'm wondering because i wanted to book my flights tomorrow using points but i'm a bit shy of how many points i would need so i was gonna buy 2,000 for $50 but idk if i then have to wait 3 days in order to actually have the points in my possession to use.

I bought some last month and used them same day. Dh's account was a few hundred short when I went to buy the tickets so the option was given to buy the miles and I did and then continued on with making our reservations.

there's a reason i'm waiting until tomorrow.
thats when my credit card statement starts fresh.
i don't need 2,800 points. i don't even need the full 2,000 points so if the bonus points happen to end before i purchase the pooints i really don't care.
of course it would be a plus but i'd rather buy the points when i want to buy them instead of buy them now just to get the extra points.

thanks! worked out just as you said. i didn't have enough points and they asked if i'd like to buy more so i did.
i got a bit worried when it said something like "ok we have received your payment and will email you when the points have been transferred to your account" but then when i clicked continue they were already visible in my RR account so i was able to book the flights immediately.
