I just read on All Ears Newsletter that Southwest Airlines is going to become a participating ME airline in a few weeks. Does anyone know if that's true. I was really happy when Air Tran starting participating in the pilot program for our January trip. If Air Tran and Southwest are now participating that would be great!

There's already a current thread on this subject: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1379911

All airlines are participating airlines. What will happen is that SW will become a RAC participating airline. DME takes you and your luggage TO and FROM the airport regardless of what airline you use. RAC (resort airline check-in) lets you check your luggage at the resort and have it sent right to the airport.

SW doesn't let you do interline baggage checks and doesn't use the same computer system as other airlines.

We won't know the actual date until the computer software is finished, tested and approved by SW. Has Airtran been rolled out to all of the resorts?
