Hi everyone, I've been waiting for SWA's Anniversary sale which is slated sometime this month but got an email regarding the Fall Sale. I immediately jumped online as I needed to change/add my tickets anyway so took a look.

While the fares weren't as absolutely low as they were a few weeks back when I booked my outbound..the flight availability and non-stop flight options were much better.

Basic sale info is below:
0-500 miles - $49 (each way)
501-1300 - $99
1301+ - $139

I spent about $17 more per ticket to change my flights (from the previous low fares), but I was able to get non-stops for both legs of the trip as well as absolutely perfect departure dates/times, so to me it was definitely worth the extra $50!!

BTW my flights were DEN-->MCO and came out to $237 total...about half as the highest I've seen so I'm SUPER happy and am NOT going to look for airfares anymore...lol :cloud9:

Here's the specifics from SW's website:

Purchase by 6/14 travel 8/13-11/14
blackout dates: Aug 18, 30; Sept 3, 4 and all Fridays and Sundays

looks like I have to keep waiting for December deals

Ack!! How do I get money back on tickets we already purchased? We bought for $262 and now it's $198. Do I rebook? DH will be flying in December so we could use the credit!

When you pull up the Southwest page, click on the "book now" which will take you to the sale page. On the bottom of that page you will find this:

"Already purchased a ticket for these travel dates and want to check for a lower fare? Visit change air reservation on southwest.com."

You will have to reselect the flights you want and the new fare will come up.
The difference in the fare will then be saved as a credit for future travel under the passenger's name.

You're a lifesaver GMU MOM! I just re-booked my flights and saved us $64 on each flight. Does anyone know if I could use the whole $128 towards a flight for my husband later in December or could I only use the $64 we saved on his flight? Both were booked under the same reservation/CC. We're going to visit my parents separately due to work schedules so I'm driving up and he's flying one way closer to xmas. It'd be amazing if we could use all $128 on him, but I think we might be flying again in April so we might be able to use it then too.

Thanks OP for posting this!!!

You can only use the $64 for him and then the other $64 for yourself...but congrats on the great new rate!

MCO isn't included out of SLC for this sale! Another reason I'll strongly consider flying SW out of DEN *no direct flights to MCO out of SLC* Oct 2013, we have family right by the airport in Denver, we'd drive down the evening before *8 hours* drive home the day we fly home or the day after. Park our car at their house :thumbsup2

SW doesn't have nonstop anymore out of DTW but I was able to get Flint-MCO non stops on Airtran for $99 each way :cool1: We were planning to drive so I am one happy girl

Mommee....Congrats!! Doesn't it feel good to get a great deal!! I'm elated!

Disneymommy...that is surprising there are no flights to MCO out of SLC. My dad lives in Sandy, UT and I live in Denver. It isn't too much of a drive if you have family here anyway..sounds like a good idea to me!

Karen..unfortunately you can only use the credit for the name which it was originally booked. SWA used to have it as early as last year that anyone could use the credit, but that changed. Not sure why, it would be helpful if anyone could use whatever credits on future travel..but I'm sure it's a financial benefit to SWA. Glad you saved $ on your flights!!! :woohoo:

SW does fly SLC to MCO, just no great rates *not included in the sale.

Thanks so much. I just changed my daughter's flights and got the exact same itinerary for a savings of $32. Every little bit helps! Maybe next week the return flight will be discounted during the birthday sale.

Does anyone know if the SW website limits the number of giftcards you use for payment? I'd like to use the Stop and Shop gc deal but that would mean a total of 10 cards.

It is 4 forms of payment. I looked into this myself not long afo. So you could use 3 gc and a cc or 4 gc or 2 gc, a cc and tickeless travel funds. You can book each person on seperate flights and use 4 gc for each conf number.

Does anyone know what date they had the Anniversary sale last year?

Not 100% sure, but I booked for October last June 21 at about $90 each way, BWI to MCO.

I can get one leg for $99 with the fall sale, but the other is $148. To book or not to book, that is the question. I know I can use the credit before it expires if the price drops....

Not sure when it was last year but the SWA rep told me that it is usually mid-late June so should be anytime. I'm thinking that since this is 72 hours only, early next week?? Not sure but it should be soon.

If you know you can use the credit if the price drops, I'd probably book it. But then again I dont know how much the "normal" price for your airfare is which might change my thoughts. My flights were almost half price so deciding on $17 per ticket was a no-brainer :cloud9:

thanks for the info....I almost booked our flight for August last week but for some reason I waited as I did not want to pay over 700.00 for hubby and I to fly...with this deal I was able to get both our tickets thru Airtran for 395.00 for round trip:cool1:

Ugh! The sale has two direct flight options for us each way for $99 each, but the $20 off codes I got thru my coke rewards last week don't apply to the sale tickets! I wonder if the code applies to the anniversary sale tickets???

What to do? I guess I'll probably book now and then see if I can get some credits with the next sale for a future trip.

I had the same problem of sorts. The majority of the flights (not even non-stop flights which seemed odd) wouldn't apply mycokerewards coupon. Only the outbound flight I chose would take the discount, so I only got $10 off per ticket instead of $20, but to choose the flights that did apply the discount were more than double the price of the flight I chose. I chose both non-stop flights.

I would GUESS (again not sure at all) that the same type limits would apply to the anniversary sale. It states on the coupon that "certain" flights are eligible. I'm thinking if they're not available for this sale, that might apply to future sales.

I decided to book and accept the flight that I chose didn't apply for the discount. But the airfare price was still great and the exact time I wanted so the $10 didn't affect my decision to book too much.

I decided that the price and flights I found were a GREAT deal (not the BEST deal I've seen...but pretty close) and decided not to tempt fate. I could much easier deal with the fact that I overpaid about $50 for 3 tickets and got the exact flights I wanted..vs watching the fares go up and kicking myself for not booking. Lesser of two evils I guess. Best of luck with whatever you decide. :thumbsup2
