We st booked our departing flight on Southwest. I have read if the price goes down we can get a refund/credit. Is this true? Has anyone here done this and how does it work?

TIA,
Noelle

I believe you have to cancel the trip and then rebook using the travel funds you get from canceling. That's what I do, and it's always a little stressful, as I worry the seats will disappear before my rebooking is complete :scared1:
If anyone knows an easier way, it would be great info :goodvibes

I've done it. All I did was call, and they issued a credit. I didn't have to cancel and rebook, or at least I don't think I did.

The credit will expire in a year, though.

When you rebook on-line, you don't cancel your reservation until after you confirm the change for the new one :yay: It is all one process :goodvibes

Yes, if you book a flight with SWA and the fare goes down, you can change your reservation on-line to the lower fare. DO NOT cancel your reservation, unless you are getting a DING fare. Anyway, the credit you receive is good for one year from original purchase date and can only be used by the person originally named on the ticket. There are no change fees to do this.

I've already done this twice since booking our original December trip....rec'vd enough flight credits for the RT airfare for the MNSSHP "quickie" trip...and them some!
Now if the car folks would play along. ;)

I did it via 'change flight' when my flights for Christmas week went down. I have a $522 credit for my trip to DL next year! :cool1:

The credit expires 1-year from the original date you booked the flight. So if you book a flight today (9/29) for Dec 1, then on Nov 10 you get a DING or whatever and get the lower rate and credit, your credit will expire on 9/29/2012 (Not Dec 1 or Nov 10).

Thinking even further ahead (only because this happened to me)... Suppose you got a credit for just $10 and applied that to a flight that's $250, that $250 flight would have to occur before the $10 credit expired. There are more strings around this area too. I can go into more detail if you'd like, but they only apply in unique circumstances.

Regardless, the fact that SW will do this is awesome. I love SWA!

I'm going to move this to our transportation board.

I've done this a number of times. I go into our reservation and opt to change flight. I got enough credits from last year to almost pay for my flight that I took this year. It worked out great!!!

Does anyone know if you book a flight with points and it drops can you get a refund of your points?
