Southwest air schedule release

Under travel tools on the SW website it says:

We are currently accepting air reservations through November 2, 2012. On June 4, 2012, we will open our schedule for sale through January 4, 2013. This date is subject to change! Please check back frequently.

It was 5/21, so they mean what they say - it is subject to change - check back frequently. You might want to keep checking in case they move it up again.

Does anyone know when I can book Christmas flights on southwest?

SWA changed it from May 21 to June 4th almost 2 months agao. June 4 is when it's "supposed" to open up but according to the agent I spoke with on Wednesday she sounded extremely confident that it would be pushed out even further!!! WTH??

Thanksgiving is 6 months away and you can't even buy air tickets with SWA :confused3!

Add in the extreme price increases recently and it looks like I'm taking my money elsewhere. It's really a shame. I don't think this merger has been good at all!

All the airlines prices have been going up. I was looking at PIT-SNA on Delta for September and it was $689! Luckily I am using miles but they have already changed the schedule, which SW doesn't do (or rarely).

That's no secret but the other major lines have increased $10-50 per ticket vs. SWA increased $200 or more per ticket. I just booked United for $299 for a 7 hour flight. SWA wants $598 for the same date for a 9+ hour flight. :confused3

Every itinerary that I have checked lately has been well over $100 compared to the competition and the flights are considerably longer or have more lay-overs. I'm done with them for now. I like to be able to book my air tickets at least 6 months out, which is never possible with SWA anymore :sad2:.

Seems strange that they would be that much slower on the same route.

99% of the time we fly out of CVG. Delta always has the cheapest flights out of there compared to the other airlines although they are never cheap. A good price for us is around $300/p r/t. Anything below that is fantastic. Have been watching prices for Nov around Thanksgiving. A couple of months ago prices for our dates started rising drastically. Anywhere from $600+ to $900+ per person, depending on which day we decided to come home. About a week ago the $600+ flight dropped down to $327/person total so I booked them. I got tired of waiting for SW to open their dates so I could check IND. They usually only have 1 non stop going to MCO and 1 coming back. Now we'll only have about a 1/2 hr and will get to MCO around noon.

my SWA round trip is $165. their competition charges a fee if you choose to change your flight.
