Southwest 50K Bonus question

Just wanted to add my .02 - I got the premier card and made over 2k purchases in the first month and paid right away. I still did not get my 50k bonus until the second statement cut. I called about it and the rep told me that the points don't alwats credit on the first statement. I also want to apply for the plus card so I can try to get the companion pass but I can't seem to get the phone number and referral or whatever is needed on any message board... :(

Google takes me here for the plus card: https://creditcards.chase.com/6000321?CELL=6PLT

I've read some posts that say you have to make your purchases at least 7 days before the statement closes for the points to post with the first statement. My purchases were 8 days ahead, which was the day I received the card.

Do the points ever expire? Or can you build them up?

You can build Southwest RR points up over time and they don't expire, but you need to have some kind of account activity every 24 months.

A quick note about Rapid Rewards points - Southwest recently announced what is likely to be a massive devaluation of RR points.

Up to this point RR points have had a fixed value associated with them, so knowing how many points you would need for tickets was predictable. Starting on April 17, Southwest will be moving to a more arbitrary approach to pricing out rewards tickets. The problem is, they aren't disclosing how it will work - so, right now, it's anyone's guess. My guess is that they'll start charging more for certain routes during certain times of the year (for instance, tickets to Florida during peak times will cost double points, etc...)

My advice is this: if you can book before April 17, do so - chances are, once that date rolls around, the tickets are going to cost you more points. It's unfortunate, but the RR program has been so good for so long, that Southwest was bound to devalue it as some point.

This was my experience as well. I'm hoping that they will post when my next statement closes in a couple of days. (My purchase points did post but the bonus did not)

I had a black card before. Does anyone know if that is a Plus or a Premier? I cancelled it after the year, I don't think I still have it.
I think the black is Premier. I have the Plus right now and it is dark blue, but have received 5 or 6 offers in recent weeks to upgrade to the Premier, which is black.
