Southwest 50000 points are back!

I just applied a couple of days ago. Any chance if I call they can change the offer to the 50, 000 mile bonus instead of the 25,000 one?

I think other people have called customer service and have had luck with that. Can't hurt to try!

Thank you sooo much for posting. I was happily surprised to be approved. I just got a mailing to apply but it was for 25,000. I'm glad I didn't apply then.

Yay!
I also applied for the Sapphire about 4 weeks and got it with 40000 points that I can just use for Southwest point for point since I also saw the 25000 one only. With the Sapphire you need to bill 3000 in 3 months but you dont pay the fee for the first year. No problem for us with our DS's tuition.

I just priced out 4 round trip tickets from BWI to MCO on southwest is 49,600 points.
So if I get the card I can get our tickets free???

I know I need to spend $2000 but that is easy to run online bills right?

It's very easy, imo. When I got my card it was Xmas shopping time. So everything was bought with my card, then I came home and paid the card off.

Since getting my 50,000 I've put on an additional 30,000+ point just by using my card for my bills and every day purchases. I pay my cell, cable and car insurance bills with it, then turn around and pay off the credit card. I got get gas or shop at Walmart or Wegmans I pay for it with my Visa then come home and pay off the credit card. I never carry a balance and I don't wait to pay off the card when my statement closes. I have the money I pay.

I'm sure I spend my money in lots of foolish ways, by credit card interest rates isn't one of them. I have paid any in years!

what is the website for this promo?

www.southwestair.com

I just applied and was approved instantly.

Southwest is also having a fare sale right now. I want to book a few one way trips for another family member to coincide with my Disney visits.

They can't stay at Disney as long as myself due to less vacation time from their job, so they will drive down with me and fly home on Monday morning to get to work. So, nice four days for them then $109 flight home! Or 5880 if we already had our points!

Question - anybody understand the companion fare thing?

offpeak cheap flights are about 7500 points. never seen them lower. Two yrs ago I got the sw card and we got 3 rt flights mht to mco. I cancelled the card after the trip.

Wife got the card in March, another 50K. Same thing 3 rt tix mht to mco with a little left over.

We looked at flights in April but they were 13k points or more.

my DH was mad that I didn't list him as an authorized user. so i told him to apply for himself...and he was approved!!! 100,000 points baby!:cool1:

I just got an email today from RapidRewards. It says:

We want to inform you of an upcoming change to the Rapid Rewards® Program that will affect the number of points needed for reward travel. Wanna Get Away® reward flight bookings made on or after March 31, 2014 will require 70 points per dollar. This is an increase from the 60 points per dollar currently required. Anytime and Business Select® reward flight redemption rates, as well as the points per dollar you earn when flying, will remain the same as they are today.

An increase of 10 points/dollar is pretty significant!

My wife and I just applied and were approved for the cards. My questions is do I need to wait until I have the points in my account to book the flights or can I book the flights now and when I have the points in my account transfer those points to cover the flight and get a refund on my credit card? I have been looking at flights over the last month and just noticed that the pricing just dropped at our local airport. I was going to drive to a farther location but wouldn't have to now. I don't know how long the price for the closer airport will last.

They will not give you the "point price" for what you paid with your credit card, you will be charged the current point price for the flight, so there isn't really much point, I would just wait.

Is the annual fee waived for the first year?

No. You pay the annual fee on the first statement sent out. Way worth the $69 or $99 fee (depending on which card you get) to get about $800 worth of flights.
