Southern ontario drivers.... I75 or I95?

We are heading down in May.

DH and I went to Florida a few years ago in March and took 75. Last August with the kids we did the 95 route.

We were under the impression that 75 was a couple hours longer, but when you google map it, there is only a difference of maybe 30 minutes or so (not accounting for traffic of course)

Have you driven both routes? Which did you find better?

Either way, we plan to get up and hit the road by 4am to get a good head start on our first day!

As long as the weather is nice through the mountains, I prefer I95 because I feel like there are fewer transport trucks on that route and it just feels like a more pleasant drive. But if the weather is dicey, I'll take I75.

We are heading down in a few days and will be crossing at buffalo and heading across to I75 we have gone down both ways in the past but I75 is a better choice for us as I like driving at night and its a easy drive for when my wife takes over driving for a while.

It does add a couple of hours to the run but we are taking 2 to 3 days to drive down forma relaxing drive

We have driven to Disney many times and have done different routes. We've done the I75 route a couple times and have enjoyed it. It is a little longer for us, but not overly. It's less than an hour difference for us. We typically take I76 or I77. I find I95 is too far east to come back to get to Florida.

The 95 route starts out as 79 and then shifts to 95.

Google maps is so funny.... Today when I looked again it gave me an hour and a half difference...lol

Either way, we plan to drive at least 12+ hours the first day and then the rest of the way on day 2. Having teenagers who sleep most of the way works well for us!

Reminder: there two a couple of tunnels on I-77 just in case tunnels are not your thing.

The only city we found to be a pain was Charlotte....major traffic jam when we hit it....and we'd been making such good time until then!

I prefer 75 because of Dave Hunter's book, ALONG I-75. It makes the miles fly by and it is absolutely invaluable for its navigation and dining/accommodation tips.

Thanks for the book suggestion! I'd heard about it before and totally forgot about it.

DH is thinking we should try 75 this time for a change of scenery, and the book will be a great addition to our planning.

We just got back and we went down 75 and back 95. Both were very nice, but there is quite a bit of construction on 95. I also found that google was way out on the times. We found that if they said 9 hours it would probably be 12 or even more. They don't take into consideration that you have to wait at the border, or buy gas, or eat, or even pee!
We have always driven straight through in the past, but this time we decided to take a few extra days.

You're right. Google only estimates drive time. You have to factor in stops along the way. Everyone is a little different in how often they stop when traveling. As we get older, we don't stop at fast food places anymore, we stop at diners and spend more time at rest stops than we did even 10 years ago.

Absolutely.....with our kids being teens, we didn't have to stop every 5 minutes for pee breaks! Lol we got away with stopping for lunch, and pee breaks when we stopped for gas.

But I just ordered the Along I75 book from chapters online (it was $10 cheaper than in store, and add in another book I had my eye on, free shipping too)

So the plan is to head down 75, and if we feel like it, come home on 95.

I took the I75 down in November it was really nice beautiful drive. I love road tripping and the views when you in the mountains is amazing.

The view in October/November thru the mountains of I95 are amazing!

We've done both routes... We prefer I95 but were closer to Buffalo and LOVE the views thru the mountains.... That being said, I'd avoid that route if the weather is dicey..... Eeeekkkkk. It is also shorter but you use approximately the same amount of gas as there are more inclines etc.
