Southern Friends - a bbq question

Flame Tree sounds like a good lunch option for the day we are at AK. Is it or am I going to think it's not very good because of all the great offerings where we live? Please don't take offense Northern Friends!

Don't know where you live, but the ribs and sauce are as southern as you get I'm from a lot more southern than where I live now and that's what everyone uses where I'm from - not this eastern sauce they call BBQ here in NC

is good. The smoke hovering around the location at 9 AM should convinve you this isn't a commissary style set up.

I am originally from a just outside of Memphis, and consider myself a bit of a BBQ snob. Unfortunately, I now live a very long way from any "good" BBQ, and I must admit that the ribs at Flametree are one of the things that I look forward to the most each trip to WDW. I think that they compare pretty darn good to some of the better ribs that I have experienced in Tennessee, Arkansas and Texas.

been living in or in the suburbs of Memphis for almost 19 years. Payne's remains my favorite sandwich and the dry ribs at Central barbecue have somehow moved past Cozy Corner as my favorite.

I think you'll be surprised by how good the BBQ at Flame Tree is. From the South myself, I've had my fair share of good BBQ. Flame Tree isn't the top best I've had, but it is pretty good. My husband really likes it because it's a break from the standard counter service food. I think if you try it you won't be disappointed.

A deep south girl (LA) and it's our favorite CS at Disney. We do love our BBQ ribs

Now you are just being mean!! What I would not give for a Payne's sliced shoulder sandwich right now!!! And here I am stuck in the frozen North, and no trip South planned until WDW in Sept.

Thanks for all the comments and info. Just to further clarify:

Of course there is fantastic bbq all over the country. I lived North, West, way way North and now way South. We just have a lot more bbq joints per capita and therefore I didn't want to be sitting there at the table saying 'well that was ok, but why did we use our credits on bbq??'. I don't have a sauce/rib style preference. I like all walks of yummy bbq. As long as it's tender and flavorful, I'm in. Just didn't want to be the family that came from Naples, ate a Pizzafari and then whined that it wasn't good. Hope this clarifies my original question. Again, thanks for the feedback. Keeping it on my list.

I'm also originally from Memphis and a BBQ snob. FTB certainly doesn't compare to great Memphis BBQ, but it by no means bad. We actually choose to eat there when we are at AK.

Plus, sitting outside watching Everest is a great place to have a meal.
