Hi! We will be visiting DLR with out of state family in April. I will be the only 18+ resident of southern CA in the group. We need a total of (7) 2-day park tickets. How likely are they to enforce the (5) limit rule? I assume I need to purchase them on separate days but if we all show up at the turnstile together will Disney refuse entry to the extra (2)??? Any advise? Thanks!

You may wish to read all the fine print including :

Valid only for Southern California residents within ZIP codes 90000-93599 and Northern Baja California residents within ZIP codes 21000-22999; proof of residency is required for purchase and admission

While it's certainly possible they won't check or care for each person..there is the chance they will. I just don't think it's ever worth risking to save money.

Here are all the details on the official page :

I read the OP post that stated that they want to use their already purchased Southern California annual pass to purchase 2-Day passes at an annual pass holder discount price. The OP states that Annual Pass holders can only purchase up to 5 discounted tickets and they want to purchase 7 and was inquiring as to whether or not anyone knows if the 5 ticket limit would be enforced.

I'm not sure if they maintain information on how many tickets were purchased and/or when. However, I would think that once purchased, no one would be turned away at the turnstile.

Other than that, I don't have any personal information regarding this issue.

Unless you're referring to a different post somewhere, that's not what OP is asking. There's no discount on tickets for being an AP holder. OP is asking about the rule stating that if you have a SOCAL ID you can buy up to 5 tickets for the current special promotion and wondering if they could get away with buying 7 instead. To that I'll say that they will probably not let you but more than the 5 at the booths. You don't have to have an AP.

OP the rules say "up to 5 tickets per person per day" so maybe you could buy some online and some the day of?

Just called ticket sales and clarified the rule. With my Southern CA ID I may purchase up to (5) of the discounted tickets being offered per day. Once I purchase them, anyone can use them at the turnstile. So I can purchase the (5) one day and the rest on another. They do not check ID at the turnstile. Thanks for replying

My guess is that this is what the OP is talking about.
For a limited time, SoCal residents can get a 2-day, 1-Park Per Day theme park ticket for $139 and a 3-day, 1-Park Per Day ticket for just $169.

Just be aware if you purchase the park hopper SoCal discount tickets for more than 2 days they require guests to show their ID and attach to the photo they take to the ticket.

My brother lives in San Diego and had this problem previously. He bought the SoCal 2 or 3-Day park hoppers for friends and their ID's were all from Nevada and it was an issue.

I prefer to use my passport card for ID since it doesn't contain my address.

I haven't taken advantage of one of these discounts in a while, but I do remember one from 2003. I went with my cousin and her husband, who had annual passes. We went to the ticket window and asked if there were any deals to be had, and were told that I could access their SoCal resident special as a guest of a resident. My cousin's husband whipped out his driver license and I got the deal. At the time it was for the price of a single-day, single-park ticket. I could either use it to access both parks on the same day (like a 1-day park hopper) or each park on on separate days (I chose that option).

However, back then they didn't check for any ID once you had your ticket in hand. I don't think that ticket renting was the issue it became.

I used a 2 day So Cal hopper during the promotion last year. They took my picture at the gate and I was asked for ID on my second park hop.

OK...still trying to understand this, and should probably just call DL and ask.

We live in Seattle, and are visiting DL in February. One of my BFF is a SoCAL resident (and pass holder) and will be joining us for part of the time. Is she able to prepurchase these tickets for us, even though she doesn't need one, being a pass holder?

We will be seeing her before we hit the parks, but she will most likely not join us in the mornings (at rope drop)...since she works.

Will we run into any problems if she orders the 4 tickets online (delivered to her apt), and we bring ID (for pictures, sounds like Passport might avoid questions)?

Confused...and trying to decide if we should try to make this work or just buy 5 day passes on our own. The 3 is a good deal, so considering 3 days at DL + a day at Legolans.

Thanks!

To me reading the official rules it says valid CA ( within the zipcodes mentioned - i'm in Nor Cal so even I wouldn't qualify) ID are required for purchase and admission. While I understand some CM's may not be as diligent as others I still don't think the risk is worth it but that's just my opinion. I would rather pay higher prices for less days with no risk or being turned away.

The restrictions are clearly listed on the website. I's up to you whether you choose to abide by them or not but also understand the risk or denying admission may be there.

The way it has worked in the past.... The tickets are intended for SoCal residents to purchase for friends/family visiting (which is why 1 person could buy 5.) ID at the gate required 1 person to be from Socal.

I always assumed one person could buy 5 because one person in the family would buy them for everyone, mom, dad, & the 2.5 children.

I don't live in SoCal, so I never really paid that close of attention to the So-Cal offers.

You might as well try it. What's the worst that can happen? That you'll have to pay the difference between the So Cal deal and the gate price?

What's the worst that can happen?
They confiscate the tickets due to fraud? Or even worse you get arrested for fraud?

Not saying that either of these are likely but that is truly the worst thing that can happen.

Right, but it isn't fraud...we (me + fam) are visiting with my BFF (from HS), and going to DL...she just won't be there with us in the AM.

That is what is confusing me.

Right, but it isn't fraud.
That depends on whether or not you have to be a socal resident to use the tickets. If you do and a so-cal friend buys them and "gives" them to you (to get around this) then it could be considered fraud.

As I see it. You can not purchase them, then you probably aren't suppose to be using them.

++++I just called DL and they confirmed that the only ID needed is for purchasing/receiving the tickets. They do not ID at the gate, only ID at the parks if you are picking them up at the parks. The intent is for SoCal residents to bring other friends and family, SoCal residents or not. I explained our particular situation (Friend being pass holder, won't be at parks until evenings), and she said we wouldn't have any problems.
