As we are planning our trip, i just thought of a question. My brother lives in Long Beach, and he is buying tickets for my family. he said he was going to get park hoppers for So cal residents. He will be going with us at least the first day, and maybe more, depending on his schedule at work.

here is my Q.
We are not Socal Residents. If he is with us, will they let us in on his ID? Do they "card" you everyday you use your passes? I just dont want to get there and not be allowed in without more money.
My Uncle will probably go wtih us when my brother is not there, and he is a socal resident. . I just am on a tight budget and i dont want any surprises. I would hate to have to leave the park with my girls, because we dont have the money.
My brother said he can buy 8 tickets, so that leads me to believe he can get 8 ppl in on his residency. Am i totally wrong??

Where is he buying these? Currently, I do not see Disneyland offering a So Cal Parkhopper ticket. (I was going to read the conditions to try to answer your question, but can't find them even being offered.) :confused3

I dont know. I think he said Costco in SoCal had 4 day park hopper for 154. with an 8 ticket purchase limit.

The Costco in AZ only have the city pass, so i have no idea...

Mousesavers.com had this listed.
SoCal 4 Day Hopper Ticket at Costco

Selected Southern California Costco stores are now selling a Disneyland Resort 4 Day Park Hopper ticket for $159.99 that can be used by Southern California residents residing in zip codes 90000-93599. It provides 4 days of admission to both Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure, including visits to both parks on the same day.

The ticket is valid for 4 visits by August 23, 2010 (except for the following blockout dates: 12/25/09-1/1/10 and 3/26/10-4/4/10) and must be used by the same person on any and all days.

The ticket may be upgraded to any Annual Passport except the Southern California Select Passport, as long as the upgrade occurs on or before the last valid day of ticket usage.

Not all Costco stores carry this ticket, so call ahead and ask. Limit of 8 tickets may be purchased per Costco member per day. Southern California ID is required at time of admission. All information subject to change without notice.

Ah, okay. So I ran a search on Google using that information and found this offer. (I'm not a Costco member. :scared1:)

You will see the second bullet states: "Available for Southern California Residents residing in Zip codes 90000-93599. Proof of residency required upon admission."

So... technically, no, you cannot use them. Will they check? Can you use them against policy? That's a gamble, but technically, it seems they are for So. Cal. residents to use only. If you want to be 100% sure, this is also on the site, "For additional information and current hours of operation, please visit Disneyland.com or call (714) 781-4565." I would call and ask.

OK. UPDATE!!!

I just got off the phone with a CM at Disney ticket office.

She said that YES, a souther cali resident can buy the socal special promotion tickets, and give them to others. If we get stopped, we just need to explain to them that we are staying with someone in the area, and the tickets were bought by them...

WOOHOO. Looks like we just went from a 2 day trip to a 4 day trip!!!! SOOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!

ok I dont want to burst your bubble happy2bjustmommy but I would rather you double check again and it be correct than have you go and find out differently....my suggestion is you call again and ask a different CM, saying the same thing to them...and GET THEIR NAME AND ID #...I cant tell you how many times I have heard and read about someone getting different answers from people...if DL says you HAVE to show ID you can bet thats how they will act...just please double check for your own sanity:goodvibes

I will second this! I think you should be fine, I'm a SoCal resident, have purchased SoCal tickets online, and never was carded at the park (think I had to enter my address at home on the computer though). I just recommended calling another CM to get verification because I called a CM regarding the military deal they had going on earlier this year, and was told information that I later found to be incorrect. Luckily I didn't end up going to the park, but I would have been SOL if I showed up based on that one CM's comments!

If you are with a Southern California resident when entering the park, you will not have a problem. The only proof they needed was when first buying the tickets. My family (Southern California residents) has taken non-residents to the parks many times and that has never, ever been an issue - nobody even checked. Especially after the first day, do not worry about it.

I agree. We got So Cal annual passes last year and we got my niece one. She is not a resident. My mom just said she was her granddaughter (she was 16), once we got the pass, we never had to show anything. I think if you have the passes, it shouldn't be an issue.

i missed the part where you said your uncle would be with you when your brother was not so my post was in reference to someone going with the tickets but not having a socal resident with them...so yeah theres no problem at all...now i can say it:banana::yay:for you :rotfl:

im too excited. I do have the CM name, and the time and day i called all written down as well,( i didnt know about CM id number) but i am thinking we wont have a problem. She told me that is is a normal occurrence for SO cal residence to purchase the promo tickets as gifts for non residents. I told her i do not want to get to the gate with my 4 kids, to be told we wont be allowed in. She assured me it would not be a problem, even if we were not with socal residents.

Disneyland cast members on the phone are notorious for giving wrong information on resident discounts. This is an e-mail I received after asking the same question and stating that a cast member over the phone told me a non-resident could use the Costco ticket:

Dear [redacted]:

Thank you for your e-mail to the DISNEYLAND® Resort. We appreciate you
taking the time to share your experience with us.

We appreciate your taking the time to share your thoughts with us
regarding our current promotion for Southern California residents. As
you are aware, our goal is to provide the finest service and
accommodations. The Southern California passes sold at Costco can only
be used by residents of Southern California, and not their out-of-town guests.
Please be assured we take your comments very seriously. Your remarks,
regarding the information our Cast Members are cascading to our Guests,
have been forwarded to the necessary leadership team so
they are aware of your feedback.

Again, thank you for contacting us. Comments such as yours are welcomed
in that they assist us in evaluating our operation and our success in
generating happiness for our Guests. We hope you will have the
opportunity to visit the DISNEYLAND® Resort soon and that our
attractions and entertainment will delight you in every way.

Sincerely,

Long story short, no, you cannot use them. If you have a cast member that bothers following the rules and checking ID, you will be turned away, but you can apply the value of the ticket to a ticket that is valid for non-SoCal residents.

I'm a native So Cal resident and have used the So Cal resident tickets even before they invented the AP. In all my years of using them, I have never been asked for id when buying them or at DL. I have heard of some being asked for id when purchasing them.

I have also purchased these numerous times for visiting friends and relatives and never have they been asked for id at DL.

Just my $.02.
