Me and the wift are taking our first KIDLESS vacation, a 2 week road trip. We are looking for pointers for things to see and do in the following locations. Would love to meet some fellow Disers along the way if it worked out.

June 14-16 Charleston SC
June 16-19 Savanna GA
June 19-22 Saint Austine FL
June 22-29 Walt Disney World Fort Wilderness (My favorite part of the trip)

Look foward to hearing from ya.

It's been many years since I went to Charleston and Savannah. But as for St. Augustine. I would definitely recommend the bus (trolley) tour of the city. They also have one that is ghost based (if your into that type of thing, I personally have not done the ghost one so I can make any recommendations for or against). You will also want to visit the fort and the artist area.

BTW, how are you going to Disney without your kids and not being harassed.

My baby turned 18 last fall and is now out of school and working. :) I am the biggest kid any way!

Well, considering I will be leaving Charleston on the 13th to go to Florida, I'll just meet you at Ft. Wilderness when you get there. :rotfl2:

Where are you staying in Charleston?

FL has ghost tours??? Wow, I thought that was a New Orleans gimmick only. I bet it would be fun to check out.

Ya know, as freeing as that sounds...its also a little on the sad side.....Im dreading the day mine are ALL too grown to go with us. My 2 oldest stayed home on the last trip, and while it was nice not to have them there biatching and bickering(there was plenty of that with the 2 younger ones), I thought of them several times a day(and made sure the wife pestered the heck out of them with constant phone calls!!!)

You might stop at the Black Knight Deli on A1A south of the bridge of lions for a good lunch at a Polish deli. We go there several times a year from Jacksonville for the Kielbasa. Convenient to the Koa and Anastasia State park.

The Mt Pleasant KOA not quite the fort but should do for a couple of days :)

I think you should go into Mt. Pleasant and find a Melvins or Bessingers (there is one on the left heading down 17 south by the new bridge) . They are both owned by the same family and try a cheeseburger or bbq basket. The onion rings are to die for and the cheeseburgers were voted best in the world by like People Magazine or something. It is really good. I don't really know about what to see. I grew up here so Yorktown, Ft Sumter and Moultrie were field trips from school. I try to avoid those places. I live across the street from Charles Towne Landing and have not been there since I was in 5th grade.:lmao: I have camped at the KOA plenty of times and really did enjoy my stay there. Have a safe trip!

In Charleston check out the CSS Hunley submarine, really great history. At Patriots point there are several decomed Navy Ships. There is the USS Yorktown Aircraft carrier, and several other ships.
In Savannah there is the historic district, River Street, and the ghost tours.
Both have Triple A baseball. The Charleston River dogs belong to the Yankees and the Savannah Sand Gnats belong to the Nationals.
