Just thought I'd let some of you know that I booked four tickets leaving Newburgh NY on Thursday February 12, 2004 flying into St Petersburg, FL. Our total cost was $508.00 for all four of us!! We'll be returning on Sunday February 22. We live in Massachusetts so it will be quite a ride (approx. 2 hrs & 15 minutes) but I know that I'll never get flights even close to that price for that time period. We normally would fly out of Boston, Hartford or Providence. So we'll drive the extra hour or so to save some money. Plus these are non-stop flights. I'm excited.
We've decided to take the year off from Disney and visit the west coast. But I'm planning on going back to Disney in 2005.

Thank you to some fellow Disers who posted recently about this airline.

We are flying out of allentown in to Tampa for Christmas the total for 6 of us was $787....I've had a few friends fly them and were very statisfied so I'm whiling to givem a whirl....

I flew them from Allentown to Sanford, and not a problem, I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Thanks for the good replies. It's nice to hear positive things since we've never flown this airline before.:D

As a matter of fact I just told dh how much they are right now for our trip in February and he told me to book it ASAP, dd won't be too happy but I don't care!

How far in advance did Southeast come out with their flight schedule?

Someone elsewhere on these boards just pointed out one concern with the charter flights might be if they don't have the same obligation when a flight is cancelled to reassign you for a flight on that day with another airlines....

What has been your experiences of that?

JennSaint,

How were you able to book your flight so far in advance? According to the Southwest website, they're only booking as far as December 13th. I'm very interested in how you pulled this off, as I'd like to get tickets for our trip back to NY for Christmas as soon as possible!

Thanks,
Jess

Southeast is already taking ressies for February 2004, I know because when I looked the other day online, I could have purchased my tickets if I wanted to.
KIS, our flight was delayed because of a snow storm but we had no problem. I don't think they cancel unless they really have to. The good thing about southeast is that your money remains in an escrow account until after the trip is completed, if something happens to that flight and it gets cancelled, it's a lot easier also to get your money back. Hopefully it won't happen.

I was reading about how important it is during vacation season to book flights sooner than later because you might end up with very little pickings.

I went online and noticed that the prices on spring break airfares had slightly risen. Meanwhile, Southeast airline informed me that they were not booking April. I started fearing that I'd wait until September or so for Southeast to offer April reservations, call to late and miss it, and then have to pay through the nose or use priceline.com and end up with a stopover or some odd time for flying. My husband and I discussed the risks, neither of us being too experienced vacationers during a busy seaon like spring break nor practiced travellers, and we both decided a bird in the hand is worth more than two in the bush. We booked Spirit today. It's less than the bigger airlines, but more than Southeast.

Does anyone know anything about Spirit Airlines? We're flying out of LaGuardia to MCO nonstop on 4/24 for seven days, eight nights. I'd love to hear from folks.
