South Georgia Construction- March 2011 update--here it is

We will be going south on I-75 on March 19th and traveling north on the 26th.

How pleasant/unpleasant is the construction zone in south Georgia?

This past December when my family and I drove down along I-75 we had no issues or delays with the construction happening over there.

I just came thru here this past Tuesday. There was some construction and the speed limit is lowered to 60 in these areas but there were no delays because of it.

LOL - we can only hope! It is much better than it was a year ago when I traveled thru there.

I drove it last week (up and back in a day) and commented on how much BETTER it is now. No slowdowns at all. And only a couple of short places where it drops down to 60. Jacksonville is all finished now too. Woo-hoo!

As of today, there was no construction from the Fla/Ga line up to exit 41. From 41 to 60, they had cones out but never saw anything being done. Fter that, we exited at 101 to come home. That exit itself is a grand mess so I would suggest not planning for a break/pit stop there in Cordele. Out of all of this, there was never any delays. I was sailing through from about 65 to 85 the entire time.

It has been several weeks since I have been to Macon but during that time, I did not encounter delays.

wow, im sorry but i went to school at valdosta state in 2004 and they had already been working on that road 4 years before then. One would think they would be finish by now!

Trip completed. The 2 lane area is much smaller than before! The reduction to 60 only lasted about 10 miles (I think). It was a much better experience than in the past!
