OK, South Beachers...has anybody compared the book to the website?? I am thinking about joining the website, but I have the book and I don't want to join the website unless it gives me more information than what's already in the book. Anyone?

I am stuck at the same quesiton, the only benefit I was looking at with the web site was the shopping list, it takes my wife hours to write out the list and that was the only benefit I could see from it. Someone told me they have a great Q&A section and they respond via email to get help about specific items. Just my thoughts.

Well, I don't have the book, but I did join the website.

From what I've read on the website by those who have the book, the website has more up-to-date info on it. There are also 2 nutritionists on staff who answer your questions (posted to a messageboard), it just takes them a week or 2 since they're are a LOT of members posting questions about what is OK to eat. I don't know if I would have joined the website if I had the book but I wanted to start right away and the book was on backorder and I couldn't find it anywhere. Now that I've joined the site, I don't think I need the book.

Hope that helps some!

This may have been asked before - but what are the differences when comparing the SBD to Atkins? They sound similar, yet different.

Well, I've never tried Atkins, but from what I know about it, the biggest difference I can see between it and the SBD is that Atkins allows unlimited fats, including saturated fat and SBD limits your fat intake. We are supposed to eat lean cuts of meat and lowfat cheeses. Also, most veggies are unlimited (except starchy veggies like corn & potatoes, of course) on the SBD even in the 1st phase. After the 1st 2 weeks, you are also allowed "good carbs" like whole wheat pasta, bread and brown rice and fruit.

So anyway, yes, there are a lot of similarities but also a lot of major differences. :D
