South Beach Dieters......... Unite

Thanks Sherree'...
It is so hard with 4 kids in the house, but I've been changing them over to 'better for them' snacks bit by bit. I try to only buy them sweets that I don't like :)

Thanks again,
kathi

Kathi, I know what you mean. However, I have found that a lot of the things that I eat, my kids really do like too. Go figure!!! Not buying what you like works. Try searching the internet for some good snacks that you can enjoyr and won't mess up your plan.

My mother came by tonight to deliver some magazines to me. That was nice.

Then she pulls out a 9x13 chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. OMG!!!

Luckily I am almost 3 weeks into in and don't have any cravings for sweets. There it sits on the counter for DH and kids. Haven't even pulled back the lid to smell it.

Good for you!!! Chocolate cake is a fav of mine!

Had you known before this that your mother was evil?? Just kidding ;)

Hi everyone!!

Kathi, most of the prepared meals are Phase 2, but I know there is at least one that says on the box it is for Phase 1. Kim has bought it, but I can't remember what it was.

I also went back to phase 1 last week. I lost 6.5lbs, taking out the 4.5 I had gained I lost 2lbs. I am now at a 15lb clippie. :goodvibes

Good news to report.....the entire chocolate cake is gone and out of my range of temptation.

I did not have even one morsel :cheer2: .

Mom brought dinner by the house last night. Stew - made with potatoes, carrots, onion, and even had sugar in it. They all ate stew and biscuits and I had asparagus and scallops. Thank God for MARKETDAY.

Weight still seems to be bouncing around. I wish I were not so susceptible to water retention, salt, etc.

Still on track and still staying positive.

I was very good, for the most part, thus far this week. I did have a little corn pudding last night, but otherwise on target. Started this morning off well, I am going out for lunch so I hope I am strong. Next weekend is the official start of summer and I intend to be ready. Still really stressful here, but I am coping. I am just living for my trip to WDW the end of June. I want to look great, feel great, and have a blast.
Congrats to all you losers! :) Keep up the hard work. Thanks, Sheree, for always being there with a kind word and encouragement. And to everyone else, WE CAN DO IT!!! :cheer2:

Congratulations Momster! :goodvibes I don't know that I have that kind of willpower yet (although I am kind of smug tat I have been able to ignore the siren call of my husband's Captain Crunch and Cocoa Pebbles storehouse.) I've had some computer problems :sad2: so I've been disconnected since Sunday. At my TOPs meeting on Tuesday, I was down another three pounds. Last night I was at a retirement dinner and I let my guard fall a bit. The service was so slow that we didn't see a bit of food till almost 8 (my lunch period starts at 11:54), so when they brought out the lukewarm cream of chicken rice soup, I'm afraid I dove right in. I also had a bit of the (I hate to admit this) twice baked potato, and a bit of the cake. I think I'll extend my stay in Phase 1 so I don't risk falling off the wagon big time. Hope you're all having a good week!

I used to be a south beach dieter but now i'm just eating healthy. I've seem to misplace my sb book and wanted to know if anyone had the recipe for the

Quiche Cups: with eggs, spinach pepper in muffin cups! I love quiches and love that recipe!! It's a great way to get iron from the spinach & omega 3 protein from the eggs!!

Thanks!!

Hi all

Everything is going well here. Weight is still coming off slowly but at least a bit more surely. Down .7 lbs for the week. .9 more until my next clippie. So i'm figuring 2 weeks at least. I'm OK with that though. After last weekend, except for weight, I have achieved all of my first stage goals. I am back almost exclusively in regular sized clothes (I still need 2xl in some button up shirts for the next and shoulders and some 44" waist depending on the cut). My blood pressure is normal, my blood sugar is normal, haven't check cholestorol. I don't get winded climbing stairs. And as I mentioned last week, I am able to ride almost any amusement park ride I want too (I am too tall for a couple rides with over the shoulder restraints). I am also 2/3 of the way to my weight goal. I know they say that if the weight comes off slowly it is more likely to stay off.

Michelle- great job on the phase 1 week. 6.5 lbs is a huge number. Good for you.

Lori - Don't get too down on yourself. Remember what he said in the book. It takes less food to keep you full than to get full. Eating the chicken and rice soup (which is probably the most phase 2 SBD friendly food of the three) probably kept you from eating the entire piece of chocolate cake and all of the twice baked potato. Sticking on phase 1 for a couple of extra days might not be a bad idea but I would wait and see how this effects any craving you might have.

Momster - Congratulation on avoiding the pitfalls this week. I know I don't always avoid what I should that that may be what's slowing me down.

Jeremy, how wonderful for you. With it coming off slow and steady, you know that you will not gain that weight back. Taking it off that way is healthy and gives you a feeling accomplishment. :teeth:

Can you believe that June is almost here!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait. My kids get out of school on Thurs. and my daughter's kindergarten graduation is that morning. I'm so proud. Plus I've only got 29 days til we leave for California. I'm happier that when I go I can go with all my weight still off, I know how to eat and I can go to the beach and not worry about how I look.

Anyone have any summer goals they want to share. Let's keep each other motivated!!!

Happy Monday!! :flower:

I am down another 2.5 this week. I am hoping by next week to have my 20lb clippie. When I get to that point I will be the lowest weight I have been since at least 2003. I can't wait for that! :Pinkbounc

I am starting back to Phase 2 today. I am very much looking forward to my sugar free chocolate pudding with cool whip tonight :goodvibes

I hope everyone has a great week!!! :cheer2:

Congrats Michelle on the loss !!! I've been doing the sugar free jello w/ cool whip.....will have to get me some pudding because that sounds really good and will be good for a change !

Sheree - enjoy the graduation - I'm sure that will be a special moment for you....it's great you have that California trip on the horizon to look forward to..

I am nearing the 40 lbs lost mark ....... I've been at it since mid-January and I'm pleased with my progress so far...... hoping to lose about 15 more .......once I hit my goal I'm going to go on a shopping spree.....as of now I have some stuff that is just too big to wear, a lot of stuff that is a little baggy but manageable and some stuff that has been in my closet forever that I've shrunk back into....but I really don't want to buy much new until I get to where I want to be....

Have a great week everyone ! :flower:

Hi all, today is 1st day back on the beach. I did it b4 for about 1 week and stopped. I'm gonna really try to stick it out this time (but the baked beans and buffalo wings in the fridge are killing me). I think if I can make it through this first week I can do it.

Hi there,
I have just started SB today. I am transitioning back into regular food after having been on Medifast for a monht. (Shakes and meal replacements. Kinda like Optifast, but you eat a lean a green meal once a day.) I have had some mozzarella cheese and tomatoes for breakfast, brocolli and chicken stir fry for lunch and some pistachios and I am incredibly full. Just realizing I may be a little too full. After consuming 800-1000 cals a day for a month, I guess my stomach shrank a bit.

The SBD just makes a lot of sense to me and sounds like something I could do in the long haul. I had gestational diabetes with one of my preg's and have about 80 lbs to lose yet so I need to get that addressed. I think SBD is a good fit. Especially as there are definitely some similarities to the gestational diabetes program they had me on.

I have lost 16 lbs in the last month and have 8 lbs to go before I weigh less than I have in 6 years. Very cool!

What other tools are there out there to plan meals with. I dont' know that all of the Phase one things in the book are going to work for me. Not that I need a new meal plan everyday. I am pretty happy with leftovers. We are having taco salad tonight and I will just not be eating the chips.

It's funny because I have read of people having a hard time with the restrictions of phase one and here I am figuring there is a heck of a lot of freedom! I have already given up all starchy foods, all milk, all sweets etc, so I am actually opening my choices back up just by doing Phase 1. When I hit Phase 2 I am really going to be in shock. Glad to read through this thread and see that it really does work for people. Thanks to all of you who have posted your successes as well as your challenges!
