South Beach Dieters......... Unite

Hi everyone!!

I am up 4.5lbs over the past couple of weeks. Some of it I think is water retention, but I also went off yesterday for Mothers day brunch. I ate quite a bit. I am starting back on Phase 1 today for a couple of weeks to get back on track.
I hope everyone has a great week!!

Michelle, just a day. Get back on phase 1 and I'm sure you'll be right on track!

Hi Everyone,

I'm fairly new to DIS and just started reading this thread. Everyone's doing great! What a positive way to keep on track, by cheering each other on :cheer2:
I've been on Phase 1 since May 1. This is the second time I started SBD. The first time, I lost 10 lbs in the first two weeks. That was a year ago and I went back to my regular eating. This time, I've lost only about a lb. in the week I've done it. Kind of discouraged, so I went out for a run this evening. I don't find SB to be restricting at all, and I don't have a problem eating the limited foods that are in Phase 1, but I AM discouraged about the lack of loss! I plan to stay on Phase 1 until my trip to WDW in July. We'll see how that goes... :flower:

Good luck Ohana!! I know it does get discouraging when you don't lose as you expect. Keep it up, you will succeed!! :cheer2:

Okay, I went to weigh in at my TOPs meeting tonight and I was down 6 pounds -- I'm quite pleased, but I think I can do better next week when I start adding in my exercise. I signed up for the walking to Disney challenge, so I'm hoping that will give me a bit of added incentive. I also plopped my clippie back on the bottom. I miss the 30 clippie that I earned last year, but I'm confident that I can earn it back in a few weeks. Heck, I've only got 99 pounds to go!
Thanks for all of the support!
:wave2:

Hi Ohana it's good to have a new person around. I think you dedication of going phase 1 for the next 7 weeks is admirable I wouldn't stay in a strict phase 1 that long. When I started I ended up doing phase 1 for three week and then what I called phase 1 and 1/2 for a couple of weeks. During this time I limited myself to only 1 fruit or 1 grain per day. In the book, he strongly recomends moving out of phase 1 after 2 weeks or 4 weeks at the most. You don't want to get to the point where you crack and start eating everything in sight. Not that you would do that but just play it safe.

Hi Steve's Wife. Congratulation on the weight loss. I know it seems like a long way to go but you can make it.

Edited to add

HEY according to my computer we made it to 100 pages. :cheer2: :cheer2: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc    :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Thanks, johde!
I like your term Phase 1 1/2. I think that's what I'll do. Maybe add an apple or a low glycemic carb somewhere in my daily regimen. I went for a run again today. Not a long one, as I'm just getting started, and I have a chihuahua with short legs that can't go far ;) but I have already noticed another pound since I last weighed. I guess there's something to what they say about exercise, huh? :confused3 I also noticed that some people are doing a "walk to Disney World," I may try that and see if I can do that before we go July 7. Hmm....coming from San Antonio...that's a lot of walking! Does walking up and down the halls of the hospital count? I'm a nurse. I do a lot of walking there.
I don't have one of those cute banners like I see so many people have on their sig line, but hopefully soon. I have 58.6 pounds to lose according to my scale.

Hi Lori :wave2: and everyone on the beach !

Went off the edge a little yesterday but will get back on track.....rolls, fries, cookies etc.......but I just keep reminding myself that SB is a way of life and not "a diet" (that's how I have to approach it) and I can't pretend that I'm not going to have those days when I go to the "other side" :) ;)

Have a great weekend !

Hey, where is everybody?

Lori

I don't know about anybody else but I was living at the beach literially, well at least for one day. Yesterday I went to Cedar Point on the beaches of Lake Erie in Ohio. As some of you long time members might remember, one of my goals was to lose enough weight to be able to ride their 2 signature rides Top Thrill Dragster and Millennium Force. I was able to ride both today. I posted more details in a seperate thread http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=815140

spb999 - Don't worry too much about it. Also, don't worry if your up. Most of the time it's a passing thing. There are something that when I eat them will make me gain 2 or 3 lbs for a day to 2 but then it will come right back off. I think some foods cause me to hold more water temporarily.

I don't know where everybodyis either. I know that zeraspride (lisa) has been really busy. I'm still doing great and seem to be learning more and more things all the time about how to keep on plan and really make this a life long thing.

I'm hoping everybody is doing well and that you all continue to be losers. For those that are up, don't worry about it, there are always up and down times.

Jeremy -- Congratulations! I read your other post & was thrilled for you. :cheer2:
Sandy -- I appreciate your infectiously positive attitude. :flower:
I read something on another thread about breaking your weight loss down into 10% increments, so I plotted my goals out using that measure. It makes it seem so very reasonable. So, I'm kind of pumped up. I need to lose about 5 more pounds to make my first 10% -- and another 6 to clean up the rest of my big backslide -- but I think I can do it. I'd also like to think that I can get to my next 10% goal by August 9th, when I leave for my next Disney "fix".
:earsgirl:
Have a great weekend!
Lori

Well, I am back up by about 3, I have been bad lately. Not really on plan with so much stress and stuff going on. But, I have been excercising a lot, too. That's why I have let myself eat like phase 3 instead of 2. But I am back to phase 1 1/2 for the next week to get on track and I am going to up my excercise. Size wise, I seem to be the same, between 5-6. I think being a 4 is as low as I will ever go, regardless of scale. I am 5' 6" so I think I can manage that. I have a few 4's that fit, but tight. My 6's are loose. I bought a pair of jean capri's that I promise myself when I fit them, that is the perfect size for me. They are a very small 5. Its ups and downs, but overall we all know this works. Pilates really make the difference for me. My tummy is nearly flat, which is no small feat after 4 kids. So, I refuse to feel guilty, of course I am going to eat my sister's awesome sugar cookies from time to time. I accept that. But the rest of the time I will be on the Beach!!! :grouphug:

Jeremey, congrats. I missed your other posts somehow. That must have been wonderful for you.

Lori, the 10% thing is a great way to lose weight. It will really help you feel more positive as you go along.

Melissa, I hope that what is going on with you goes away. Stress is not good for anybody. I hope that things get better for you real soon.

Good morning! :sunny:

I hope everyone had a great weekend. I went back onto phase 1 last week after a bad mother's day weekend. I ended up gaining 1.5 lbs which was actually less than I expected. I've lost that plus 4.1. Enough for a new clippie! :cheer2: I'm getting closer to my first goal.

well, I read and decided to try the SBD and managed to stay on it for ............ 4 hours! How sad is that?

I did buy some of the lunches and I really like them, but I don't think they are part of phase1? Can anybody explain where their prepared meals come in?

The most I can say for me is that I have been really trying to watch what I eat and have managed to lose about a pound a week, but even though I should be happy, it's just sooooooo slooooowwwww.

Congrats to all of you that are doing so well! I need to make a point to stay on the WISH board this go round! ::yes::

Kathi

Kathi, hang in there. It just takes a change of mind and heart to do it. I'm not sure about the prepared meals because when I started, there was no such thing, and I'm still not using them. Give it another try and just stay away. Find something else to do when those cravings come so that it will not mess up your diet.
