South Beach Dieters Thread ??? Anyone???

I've been on SB since just before Christmas and have lost almost 60 lbs.

I did it six years ago, and lost almost as much, but fell off the wagon after 2 years and gained it all back. Hopefully this time will be better! This time around, I've found that I crave refined sugar alot less than the last time.

Adding the carbs back is hard. I would recommend staying in Phase 1 as long as possible. It'll help you get used to feeling "full" instead of feeling hypoglycemic! Drink lots of water, too! It makes it easier and you'll be less crabby.

Good luck!

Hi other SBDers! I'm sorry to read some of you are having a hard time on SB since this diet has literally changed my life for the better. I've been doing SB since August 08 and I've lost 38 pounds; I've gone from a size XL/16 to XS/4. I now run, do yoga, and rock climb!

But the most important change has been the type of foods I eat. SB helped me realize that I'm gluten intolerant. I always had GI problems and just thought that was the normal way my body functioned. When I started phase 1 all those problems disappeared. When I switched to phase 2, they all came back. So, I started doing little experiments and keeping a food allergy diary and wrote down each food I ate and the results. Once I narrowed it down to foods that contained wheat I went to a bunch of GI docs and allergists and they confirmed it! I now no longer eat anything that has any wheat, rye, or barley in it. It can be hard (and quite expensive) to live a gluten free lifestyle but it's worth it for me. I've basically stayed on phase 1 this whole time and just added fruit back in to my diet. Ocassionally I'll have some brown rice or use gluten free corn tortillas if I really need a starch.

I wish everyone the best of luck with SB and keep up the good work!

Hi everyone!
I am going to jump in! I am starting South Beach tomorrow. I know--I am crazy for starting on the 4th, but I don't want to put it off any more. My hubby and I are doing this together. I just made our "menu" for the week. I am really excited! My goal is to lose about 40 pounds.

Any tips on getting through the cravings? I am a HUGE chocaholic!

I made it through my first full day today and...it wasn't bad at all! I thought I would really miss my chocolate and Dr. Pepper, but I was full and content. I made the chicken capri out of the South Beach cookbook for dinner tonight. It was easy and tasty! I hope you are all doing well!
