I've been eating the SB way since 1/1/04. I've lost 40 pounds. Really the only things you're supposed to completely eliminate from your diet are the "white" foods (not cauliflower)..white flour, sugar, white potatoes...as well as other high sugar/starch vegetables (corn, beets, peas, carrots...although it's okay to have a small amount of raw carrots). Oh, and beer is a no-no. There really is a long list of vegetables that you can have from day one and it expands allong with the addition of more fruits and grains in phase two. You are not suppopsed to count carbs on this plan. Eat from the allowable foods list until you feel satisfied. How good, or bad, you feel in the first two weeks depends largely on how much refined sugars/carbs you were eating prior to beginning the plan. It's sort of like caffeine withdrawal...a little shaky and achy for a couple of days. Because you should be eating plenty of vegetables at this point, it isn't a lack of nutrition, but rather your body detoxing and getting rid of your sugar cravings.
