South Beach Diet anyone?

Well, I'm officially a cow :confused3 ! My doctor told me that I need to lose at least 50lbs :faint: and I'd like to have the weight lost before my WDW trip this August. My doctor suggested the SBD. Anyone ever been on it? What do you think? Pros and cons are welcomed!

You may want to post this over on the W.I.S.H. board. You'll probably get a few responses over there from people who've tried it.

I used the SBD a year and half ago and loved it. I am actually doing a version of phase 2 right now....If you can REALY stick to phase 1 for the 2 weeks, give yourself a couple of days on phase 2 (if you need a break) and then right back to phase 1 for another week or two...you will be amazed at how much you loose in weight and inches. I lost 21 pounds in 3 weeks.....no kidding....I was hungry and fairly miserable the first few days but then it got so easy....I had absolutely no cravings, had loads of energy and felt great. My skin looked 10 yrs younger. After phase 1,which i stayed on for about 4 weeks....I went to phase 2....the weight loss slows.....I lost about 28 pounds total....I backslid terribly.....but didnt gain a pound for about a year....at this point I have gained about 15 pounds back.....but I have been awful about eating everything I shouldnt.
I am doing phase 1-2.....at the moment.
 

In the process of reading the book now, so I can start next week. I'm really determined to lose the weight. I'll be 40 in a few years, but I'd like to be sexy and 40! :teeth:
 
If you need any help or have questions please ask....Maybe we could get a checkin type thread started here for SBD and support each other in our quest for slimness.... :cool1:
I think the SBD resets the metabolism.....I was shocked that I didnt immediately gain the weight back but as I said it took well over a year of over indulgence and I still kept some of it off.
 
It is a good diet...I was/am successful with it.......have maintained weight loss for over a year......... :cool1:
 
In the W.I.S.H board there is a great SBD thread. Great support there as well. I lost 40, went off the diet and gained a lot back and have gone back on and lost 12. I need to lose another 38.

I want my Mom to go on this diet. She needs to lose some weight and I think this would be the best way for her.

So I was thinking that maybe I would do it with her for support.
 
[I'm just worried about how restricitve it is in the first two weeks. :eek: I know I can do it, I know I NEED to do it. Just wish I had some help. My husband is in perfect shape and well, I'm not... :sad1:
 
I lost 38 lbs. in three months...

Phase one is restrictive, but if you like eggs, cheese and stuff like that, you can do it........that is what appealed to me...the things you can eat. I won't say I followed it to a "T", cause I'm not into a lot of the things listed in the book, but I adapted to my tastes and followed the principals and it worked!! I've been on loads of diets over the years, and this one worked the best for me and I've not really backslipped with it.

there is ton of info on it plus some very nice message boards/forums to read how this has worked for others..........I read there alot when I was losing, it was helpful, motivational and inspirational to read about others trying to lose weight.......

Phase 1 is hard.....but doable....Once you are on phase 2 it is much easier...and think of the hard part as only 2 weeks, 2 weekends....
 
I actually just started Phase 1 today! I don't have much to loose at all (10 lbs at the most), but I'm trying to firm up and eat healthier for my wedding in May--I know a lot of people who've used it and not only lost weight, but really improved on things like cholesterol as well...
 
Has anyone tried the frozen SBD meals? Are they edible? I've been eating the WW Smart Ones for about a month now, and I need a change.
 
I just bought some South Beach Diet foods by Kraft at the store today. I had the pizza for lunch - it was rather yummy, but still had that diet-food taste. But I can handle diet food if it's pizza! ;)

I'm gonna read a little more about it - I know someone who went on it and she looks great. With this and my new treadmill, I'm hoping to finally lose some weight.
 
I am doing SBD... only a week into it. Like someone else said Phase 1 is doable. Come over to the W.I.S.H board there are a lot of Beachers there.
 
They have pre-packaged SBD food at grocery stores? I'm really going to have to look into that!
 
38lbs in three months?! That's amazing! I can't wait to get started to see some results!
