I have a few bodies and some lenses (35mm SLR) that it is time to part with. Have any of you had particularly good luck with any individual sources?

I had an old Pentax K1000 (the full manual / non digital kind) and I tried to give it away to any worthy school/club/group and I couldn't find anyone who wanted it. All the photography clases from the local highschools had already gone digital.

I ended up selling it to a lady from a camera store for what we agreed was a fair ebay price. Got enough out of it to buy my "nifty fifty".

In other words, not a lot of demand for non-digital SLRs.

eBay may be the best choice. Watch similar sales for buying trends. I sold my Kit lens fro the Rebel XT. it was worth about $80 retail. they had sold as low as $40 and one even went for $120. I got $80 for mine plus shipping by listing it when there were good bids on others and not many available. In my auctions buyer pays shipping and I pay insurance, always. It's good , ... uh... insurance. heheheheee and it is very cheap. I sold my Minolta X-700 setup all seperatly on ebay. I took the package to a used broker for an esimate. I sold the power autowinder alone for more than he offered for the whole kit. Body, 4 lenses, flash, winder, 10 filters....
But that was 3 years ago, financialy it may be better to donate it or something. Local museum maybe? heheheee

Good luck.

i also recommend the 'bay.. i've bought and sold quite a bit of old film equipment. some things will not fetch very much, bit others can be very suprising. doing a little research both on ebay itself and also in various 'for sale..' periodicals will help you with minimum bids (we don't have a reserve in Australia).

E-Bay is probably the best bet, also check out keh.com. They specialize in used camera equipment and will buy some stuff, not all but they do buy. You can go on their site and see if they are looking for what you have. I have only bought from them though (excellent to deal with when buying, so I would assume they would be good when they are buying as well.)

Good luck.
